Threads that are working or monitoring crowd the inbox, even though they need nothing from you yet. This adds a beta that folds them away and brings them back at the top when they finish, fail, or ask for an approval or answer.

Turn it on in Settings → General → Working section (beta). It is off by default.

Before, beta on (collapsed), beta on (expanded)

Before · beta on · beta on with Working expanded

How it works

  • Inbox threads that are Working, Connecting, or Monitoring move into a collapsed Working section above Snoozed and Settled. Rows stay cards, so the live timer still shows.
  • Approvals, questions, plan prompts, and failures stay in the inbox. Pinned, snoozed, and settled threads keep their sections.
  • The open thread stays visible in the collapsed section, the same as the snoozed shelf.
  • While the beta is on, the inbox sorts newest first by when each thread last came back to you: turn completion from the server, plus the moment the client sees a thread leave Working (for approvals mid-turn and background work ending). The server stores no time for manual placement, so drag reordering inside the inbox is off while the beta is on. Saved order is kept and returns when you turn it off.
  • Working rows are not a drag source or target.

Web and desktop only. Mobile keeps its current thread list.

Testing

  • Focused tests for the working check, the return sort, drop targets, and the time-ordered drag preview.
  • Checked in a headless browser against the mobile showcase fixture (screenshots above).

Built with Claude Opus 5.5 in Claude Code, running inside T3 Code.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added an optional Working section (beta) to the sidebar, configurable in Settings → General. When enabled, working and monitoring threads appear in a collapsed shelf at the bottom; threads needing attention return to the active list.
    • Active threads are ordered by when they last returned to the user. Manual reordering of the active list is unavailable while the setting is enabled, and pinned threads remain pinned.
  • Documentation
    • Added guidance on enabling and using the Working section.

Threads that are working or monitoring move into a collapsed Working
section at the bottom of the sidebar, and return to the top of the inbox
when they finish, fail, or need an approval or answer. While the beta is
on, the inbox orders by when each thread last came back to the user.

Approvability

Verdict: Not approved

Macroscope's review found this PR not approvable — This PR adds a substantial opt-in Working sidebar capability that changes thread partitioning, ordering, rendering, and drag/drop behavior across production code. Unresolved comments identify cases where snooze wakes or Settings navigation can lose the return timestamp, so the resulting inbox ordering needs human review.

Count a wake as an inbox return.

If a user wakes an older snoozed thread, this sort uses its old turn timestamps. observeInboxReturns does not stamp the wake because the thread did not leave Working. The thread can remain below newer Active threads instead of sorting by when it returned. Record the snooze-to-inbox transition and include its time in this sort.

Track Working returns from the always-mounted parent.

AppSidebarLayout does not currently subscribe to threads, but it can use the shared useThreadShells() hook from state/entities. Add an always-mounted observer there, or expose the return timestamp from thread state.

Sidebar misses transitions while Settings replaces it. A return that is detected on remount receives the remount time, and a thread that starts and returns while unmounted may receive no observed timestamp. The sort then falls back to latestTurn.requestedAt, which does not represent a mid-turn approval request. This is a localized correction, not a broad architecture change.

Conflicts resolved keeping both sides:
- Working section beta (pingdotgg#13926) folded into the fork's sidebar (project
scope filter applied to the Working shelf too); settings keep tabsEnabled
  beside sidebarWorkingShelfEnabled.
- New project from a name (pingdotgg#14527) kept inside the fork's command-palette
fragment; ws.ts imports both ProjectTransfer and NewProject.
- Expo SDK 58 (pingdotgg#12045): upstream pins plus the fork's Clerk passkey pins;
MT Code brand name kept in the widget description and Live Activity title.
- GitHub GraphQL batching (pingdotgg#14673) dropped the empty-listing test; the
  fork's draft PR loop stays.
- Licenses: both the fork's mermaid overrides and upstream's noxcturnal ones.

Merges origin/main (6c8fed3) into t3code/codex-turn-mapping (3eaae44).
The previous sync (pingdotgg#14668) was squash-merged, so V2 already holds main's
content up to a3abb52 without the merge parent. This merge was built with
`git merge-tree --merge-base=a3abb52660`, so only the 15 commits in
a3abb52..6c8fed3 apply and nothing already synced re-conflicts.
No new migrations on main.

Brings in pingdotgg#14673 (batched GitHub GraphQL polling), pingdotgg#13926 (beta Working
section), pingdotgg#14678 (update providers on every machine), pingdotgg#14674, pingdotgg#13426,
pingdotgg#14700, pingdotgg#14675, pingdotgg#14601, pingdotgg#14532, pingdotgg#14756, pingdotgg#14734 (Expo 58 update), the 1.4.0
mobile version bump, pingdotgg#12615, pingdotgg#14367 and pingdotgg#14710.

V1 files V2 deleted (kept deleted):
- orchestration/PullRequestSyncReactor(.test).ts and
  orchestration/ThreadPullRequestReactor.ts: pingdotgg#14673's reactor batching.
Git matched them to V2's orchestration-v2/PullRequestSyncReactor(.test).ts
and ThreadPullRequestService.ts, so the change landed there: one queued
"requested" sweep reads a burst of requestSync keys together, a summary
that places a PR in no stack skips the stack read, and a stack-number
change in the summary triggers a stack refresh. Main's two new reactor
tests merged into V2's test file and use V2's harness as-is.
- web ChatMarkdown.workspace-images.test.tsx: V2 removed it in 894f6c4.
pingdotgg#12615 added Windows-path cases there; the link case is ported into V2's
ChatMarkdown.test.tsx "Windows file links" block. The image-resource
cases depend on that file's asset mocks and are not ported.

Content conflicts:
- orchestration-v2/PullRequestSyncReactor.ts: main's sweep(scope) signature
  over V2's projections.getThreadsWithPullRequests() read.
- orchestration-v2/ThreadPullRequestService.ts: main's concurrency 32 (was
  V2's 25), so a sweep's branch lookups reach GitHubCli's 50-wide GraphQL
  document together.
- chat/ChatHeader.tsx: kept V2's slim header (f71e6a2); main's
header-actions block is not in V2. pingdotgg#13426's ChatView half (the maximize
control leaves the flex flow when closed) is applied to V2's panel
  controls in ChatView.tsx.
- Sidebar.logic(.test).ts, Sidebar.tsx: pingdotgg#13926 on V2's sidebar model.
isSidebarThreadWorking folds V2's "working" and "waiting" (idle with open
background tasks, main's "monitoring") statuses, minus a ready plan.
sortInboxThreadsByReturn reads latestRun instead of latestTurn. V2's
  subagent filter, section resolver and CollapsibleSectionHeader stay;
the Working header uses the muted tone. Main's status tests are rewritten
  on V2's runtime fixture.
- settings/SettingsPanels.tsx, settingsSearch.ts, docs/user/thread-sidebar.md:
both sides (V2's limited-thread rows and title docs, main's Working
  section row and docs).

pingdotgg#14678 uses the existing server.updateProvider RPC, which V2's ws.ts
serves through providerMaintenanceRunner, so no server change is needed.

aorwall added a commit to aorwall/t3code that referenced this pull request Oct 3, 2026
Merges `pingdotgg/t3code` `20012ebd8` (33 commits, base `0cf482b08`)
into the fork. Landed 211 files, the same 211 that upstream changed in
the range. The fork delta is 756 files.

## Conflicts (7)
- `.github/workflows/ci.yml` (converged): upstream split the old `check`
job into separate jobs (pingdotgg#14025). The Moatless spec-check step now runs
after `vpr typecheck` in the `typecheck` job.
- `AGENTS.md` (decide): kept the fork's shape. Upstream's pingdotgg#14613 rule
("services, thin transports") is folded into the `apps/server` line,
along with its link to `effect-services.md`.
- `Sidebar.tsx` (converged): the memo dependency list is the union of
the fork's `isBrowsing`/`showsClosed` and upstream's
`workingShelfEnabled`.
- `DraftHeroHeadline.tsx`, `SidebarThreadHeader.tsx` (converged): takes
upstream's "Add project" label and keeps the
`FEATURES.projectManagement` gates.
- `third-party-licenses.config.json` (converged): upstream's copy, with
the fork's `khroma`/`fastdom`/`strictdom` overrides added back at the
end.
- `pnpm-lock.yaml` (theirs): taken from upstream, then re-derived with
`install.mjs`.

## Fork changes in this merge
- `projects.createNew` now declares `UnsupportedMethodError` (the ADD
from `unsupported-methods.mjs`).
- `<ProviderUpdatesAction />` in `ProviderSettingsPanel.tsx` is now
gated on `FEATURES.providerConfiguration`, because it calls
`server.updateProvider`, which Moatless refuses. Moatless publishes no
`versionAdvisory`, so the button would render nothing anyway.
- Updated `docs/fork/inventory.json`, `upstream-merge-inventory.md`,
`gaps.md` and `upstream-merge-log.md`.

## Usable as-is
- pingdotgg#13926: beta Working sidebar section. It is a client setting.
- pingdotgg#14635: cloned projects show their favicon.
- pingdotgg#14548: hotkey settings record plain keys and Tab. The keybindings
page is gated off in the fork, so this has no visible effect here.
- pingdotgg#14700 (PR checks layout), pingdotgg#14675 (Docker icon), pingdotgg#14710 (removes
outdated settings text), pingdotgg#13426 (terminal toggle spacing).
- Mobile (Expo SDK 58 and related), desktop, release, CI, docs and
marketing commits do not affect the web fork.

## Unsupported in Moatless / needs implementation
- pingdotgg#14527 `projects.createNew` + `ServerConfig.newProjectsRoot`: create a
project from just a name. The command palette entries hide themselves
while `newProjectsRoot` is absent. Moatless needs to implement the
method and report a root; then delete the union entry.
- pingdotgg#14678 `server.updateProvider` "update every machine": already
unsupported. Now gated behind `providerConfiguration`.

## Backend behavior to consider reproducing in Moatless
- pingdotgg#14542: "Restart agent session" in cmd+k calls
`server.refreshProviders` with `fresh: true` so skills and plugins are
rescanned. Moatless serves the method, but it may not honor `fresh`.
- pingdotgg#14673: background GitHub polling batched into GraphQL queries, about
74% fewer calls. Also adds an optional `PullRequestSummary.stack`.
- pingdotgg#14540: a Claude subagent with its own model is attributed to that
model, not the parent's.

## Verification
The full `verify.mjs` run passed all 10 checks. `@t3tools/mobile` failed
in the parallel test run and passed when run on its own, which points to
load rather than the merge.
