A webhook URL that points straight at an environment's tunnel hostname is tied to that hostname. Senders need a stable public URL instead.

The relay now forwards GET, POST, PUT and PATCH on /v1/hooks/:environmentId/:hookId/:token to that environment's managed tunnel (/api/hooks/:hookId/:token) and stores nothing. The endpoints are a hooks group in the RelayApi, so they appear in the relay's OpenAPI. They are raw, so the forwarder sends the encoded path segments and the body on unchanged. It passes the method, query and exact body bytes. Hop-by-hop, cf-* and x-forwarded-* headers are stripped; authorization and signature headers are kept.

  • Status and body from the environment come back unchanged. location and set-cookie are dropped.
  • Lookup: the environment's endpoint is resolved with the checks already used for connect, now shared as validateManagedEndpoint. An unknown or unready environment returns 404.
  • Offline or failing environment: a network error or Cloudflare's 530 returns 503, a timeout after 8 s returns 504, and redirects are not followed.
  • Limits: bodies over 1 MiB get 413. A Cloudflare RateLimit binding (HOOK_RATE_LIMIT) allows 60 requests per 60 s per hook and lets requests through if the limiter errors. The environment enforces its own per-task limit as well.
  • CORS: hook paths skip the relay's CORS layer, so responses carry no access-control-* headers. OPTIONS and other methods fall through to the relay's 404.
  • Privacy: tokens and bodies never reach traces. The server span sees a redacted URL, the outgoing client span is turned off, and signature and token headers are redacted.

docs/internals/t3-connect.md now records this as the one case where the relay proxies traffic.

Verification

HookForwarder.test.ts covers byte-exact forwarding and header filtering, the query being kept, status and body passing through, 413 (from content-length and from the streamed body), 404 (unknown environment and endpoint not ready), 503 (network error and 530), 504, OPTIONS getting no preflight, 429, redirects not being followed, and the token never reaching a span.

All 355 relay tests pass, and typecheck and lint are clean.

Not yet run against a deployed stage. The first deploy creates the HOOK_RATE_LIMIT binding (namespace 1001).

Approvability

Verdict: Not approved

Macroscope's review found this PR not approvable — This PR adds a new unauthenticated production webhook-forwarding capability with database routing, Cloudflare rate limiting, request-secret redaction, and upstream tunnel behavior. An unresolved High-severity finding also indicates that GET payload bytes are discarded, potentially breaking signature validation or changing the payload processed by the environment.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The relay adds public automation hook routes. It finds and validates managed environment endpoints, applies request and rate limits, forwards requests through environment tunnels, and redacts sensitive hook data from traces.

infra/relay/src/environments/EnvironmentLinks.ts, infra/relay/src/environments/EnvironmentConnector.ts, infra/relay/src/environments/*.test.ts, infra/relay/src/agentActivity/*.test.ts, infra/relay/src/http/Api.test.ts
The relay looks up active managed links by environment and validates their endpoints. Test doubles implement the new lookup method.
Hook request validation and forwarding
packages/contracts/src/relay.ts, infra/relay/src/hooks/HookForwarder.ts, infra/relay/src/hooks/HookForwarder.test.ts
The relay adds GET, POST, PUT, and PATCH hook routes. The forwarder validates paths, enforces body and rate limits, filters headers, forwards requests, and handles upstream responses. Tests cover forwarding, response handling, limits, failures, and trace redaction.
Route, rate-limit, and trace integration
infra/relay/src/worker.ts, infra/relay/src/http/Api.ts, docs/internals/t3-connect.md
The worker registers the hook API and configures its Cloudflare rate limiter. API middleware bypasses CORS handling for hook paths and redacts hook URLs and sensitive headers in traces. The documentation describes stateless forwarding and verification boundaries.

GET webhook payload bytes are discarded, so the environment receives an empty body and signature validation can reject or process a different payload. readCappedBody and HttpClientRequest.bodyUint8Array are both skipped for GET; read, cap, and attach the body for every accepted method.

/v1/hooks/:environmentId/:hookId/:token gives webhook tasks a stable
public URL. The relay forwards the raw request to the environment and
stores nothing; the environment verifies the token and signature.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Environment ids appear in every URL given to senders, so a per-environment
budget let one junk sender block every hook on that environment.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Budget per hashed full hook URL, so requests with a guessed token cannot
use up a real sender's budget, and the token never reaches the limiter.
- Forward only through links with managed tunnels enabled, and check every
active link instead of the first five.
- Redact key- and auth-bearing headers from spans.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…ment

Hashing the budget key made the step before the upstream call
asynchronous, so advancing the test clock early never fired the timeout.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Declare /v1/hooks/:environmentId/:hookId/:token as raw endpoints in a
RelayApi hooks group instead of a hand-wired router route, so it is
documented in the relay's OpenAPI with everything else. The forwarder
still re-reads the encoded path segments and streams the body itself.
Unsupported methods now fall through to the relay's 404 route.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
The environment decodes path segments, so `token` and `%74oken` reach the
same hook; keying the budget on the encoded segments let a sender with a
valid token spread requests across spellings to get past the limit.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
The relay read the environment's whole response into memory before
answering the sender. It now stops at 64 KiB and answers 503, the same as
the mailbox layer's upstream module.

* fix(pull-requests): PR detail reads no longer drain the GitHub quota (pingdotgg#16280)

Takes over pingdotgg#13841. A PR query refreshes on the server's refresh signal only while something reads it, and the server shares detail, activity, and preview for 60 seconds, or 10 minutes once merged.

* fix(server): Claude limits load again for users with large transcript histories (pingdotgg#16358)

* chore(contracts): take the Moatless V2 backend into the upstream merge

Regenerate the threads.getShell fixture as a V2 row, decode it as the RPC
layer does, drop four UnsupportedMethodError entries the V2 backend now
serves, and reconcile docs/fork/gaps.md with soaplabs/moatless#1068.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test(contracts): decode a Moatless V2 thread projection fixture

The fixture comes from the moatless feat/t3code-v2-timeline-and-sessions
branch and holds every timeline item kind it translates tool calls into,
its plans, and the provider rows that let a client steer a running turn.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* ci: run the contracts tests in the Typecheck workflow

Its Moatless fixtures are the one check that a backend response decodes
against the schemas the client reads, and the package is small enough for
the 4 CPU / 8 GiB runner.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* ci: run the contracts tests before the typecheck

The runner loses contact during pnpm typecheck, which skipped the
fixture decodes queued after it.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test(contracts): decode the V2 projection's node rows

Regenerated from soaplabs/moatless#1071 at ed50318e, which backs every
rootNodeId and nodeId with a node row.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* docs(fork): narrow the V2 gap to what moatless#1071 still refuses
