Problem

Codex JavaScript and computer-use calls can show Node_repl.js or Js with a wrench instead of the supplied action title. Failed Sky calls often have no result metadata, so they lose their computer-use identity. Native app icons also sit below the label at approximately 91% desktop zoom.

Change

Use the supplied action title for js, node_repl.js, and cua_repl.js, including retained thread records. Infer Sky computer-use calls when result metadata is unavailable, while preserving explicit browser/computer metadata. Reuse the existing window-and-pointer BrowserAppIcon when a native app icon is unavailable, with the same SVG drawing on mobile, and a code icon for ordinary JavaScript calls. Avoid repeating the same source name in grouped summaries.

Align work-log icons with the first line's font cap height and baseline. Native app icons remain 20×20. Highlight expanded REPL code with the existing TypeScript grammar and cached highlighters on web/desktop and mobile.

Scope and approval

Requested by the maintainer in this development session. These changes address the reported computer-use activity presentation across the Codex adapter, retained records, and web/mobile clients. Desktop uses the web UI; no wire-contract or connection-mode changes are required.

Verification

  • 527 focused tests passed across Codex projection, shared client presentation/grouping, web timeline labels, and mobile activity labels/icons. Shared tool-activity tests also passed.
  • Scoped shared, client-runtime, web, mobile, and server typechecks passed. Targeted lint, formatting, server bundle build, and git diff --check passed.
  • Verified native Electron at 100% and approximately 91% zoom, including wrapped labels and unchanged 20×20 app icons.
  • Replayed copies of the reported Js records against isolated development state. The HTTP call shows its supplied title and code icon; the failed Sky call shows its supplied title and cursor. Expanded code retains its exact text with syntax colors in the Browser panel. No recorded tools were executed.
  • Mobile presentation has focused test and typecheck coverage; native mobile rendering was not manually verified.

App icon alignment before and after at approximately 91% desktop zoom. The final fallback icon is shown in the retained-record screenshot below:

Before: low app icons and gradient fallback

After: aligned 20×20 app icons and highlighted code

Reported retained JavaScript row before:

Before: Js with a wrench and Node_repl.js with the app icon

Replayed records after:

After: action titles, existing window-and-pointer icons, code icons, and highlighted JavaScript

Implemented with GPT-6.1 Sol through the Codex harness in T3 Code.

Approvability

Verdict: Approved at 955ce17

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This PR is a focused work-log presentation fix: it recovers action titles, distinguishes computer-use from ordinary JavaScript calls, aligns icons, and highlights existing code inputs across web and mobile. It changes display metadata and rendering only, preserves existing optional contracts, and includes targeted coverage without altering product defaults or execution workflows.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The change recognizes JavaScript REPL calls across shared, server, client-runtime, web, and mobile code. It resolves titles and computer-use metadata, updates activity labels and icons, highlights REPL code arguments, and deduplicates repeated work-log source names.

Changes

JavaScript REPL Activity Presentation

Layer / File(s) Summary
REPL recognition and title resolution
packages/shared/src/toolActivity.ts, packages/shared/src/toolActivity.test.ts
Shared helpers recognize js, cua_repl.js, and node_repl.js. They resolve titles from input or retained values and infer the computer surface from tool names or code.
Activity projection and source handling
apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/Adapters/CodexAdapterV2.ts, apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/Adapters/CodexAdapterV2.test.ts, packages/client-runtime/src/work-log/toolPresentation.ts, packages/client-runtime/src/work-log/toolPresentation.test.ts, packages/client-runtime/src/work-log/presentation.ts, packages/client-runtime/src/work-log/presentation.test.ts, apps/mobile/src/lib/threadActivity.ts, apps/mobile/src/lib/threadActivity.test.ts
The server adapter and client runtime resolve titles, surfaces, and sources for dynamic-tool calls. Mobile activity summaries use retained titles and code icons. Grouped source names are deduplicated while preserving first-occurrence order.
Web and mobile activity rendering
apps/mobile/src/components/BrowserAppIcon.tsx, apps/mobile/src/features/threads/thread-work-log.tsx, apps/web/src/components/Icons.tsx, apps/web/src/components/chat/MessagesTimeline.logic.ts, apps/web/src/components/chat/MessagesTimeline.logic.test.ts, apps/web/src/components/chat/MessagesTimeline.tsx, apps/web/src/components/chat/V2ItemInspector.tsx, apps/web/src/components/chat/WorkLog.tsx
Activity views use computer and code icons and resolved tool titles. Expanded JavaScript REPL code arguments receive TypeScript highlighting. The web work-log row alignment changes, and the previous computer-use icon export is removed.

Merges upstream `pingdotgg/t3code` `5070a83a32` (48 commits, base
`e688034b5f`) into the fork. It does not stack on another PR.

## Merge
- 240 of 240 upstream-range files landed. Fork delta: 775 files.
- One conflict: `apps/web/src/routeTree.gen.ts`, regenerated for
upstream's new `/_chat/new` route. The other 18 files both sides touched
auto-merged: `duplicate-adds` and `resolution-check` are clean, and
every delta guard holds.
- `pnpm-lock.yaml` was re-derived by install, and `verify --only
lockfile` passes.
- Sweep: `promptLinks/HostedPromptLinkLanding.tsx` renders only in the
`hosted-static` auth state, which Moatless never reaches. Taken as
upstream's.
- Unsupported methods: ADD 0, DROP 0.

## Verification
`verify.mjs` passes duplicate-adds, tripwires, resolution-check,
unsupported-methods, lockfile, fmt, lint, typecheck and build. `test`
fails only on files that fail alone and failed the same way on the last
three merges, because of the sandbox: shared `AgentScope`
(`oom_score_adj` is 935 here), server `ServerBrowserPage` (no Playwright
browser), `AcpAdapterV2`, `OrchestratorReplayFixtures`, and
provider-opencode `OpenCodeServerLedger`.

## Usable as-is
- Prompt links (pingdotgg#18454): `/new?prompt=…`, `ThreadLinkPrompt` on thread
routes, and copy-prompt-link from messages and the command palette.
Choosing a project and placing the prompt work against Moatless.
- Terminal colors (pingdotgg#17168), context meter rounding (pingdotgg#17539), stable
button text (pingdotgg#18866), setup wizards follow themes (pingdotgg#18725), Git actions
follow the selected thread (pingdotgg#18862), dropped threads attach to pending
answers (pingdotgg#18789), the compact merge-button second click (pingdotgg#18878), a
numeric `q` on pull requests (pingdotgg#18666), the home-page bounce fix
(pingdotgg#18672), running terminals shown in the sidebar (pingdotgg#18740), and
computer-use titles (pingdotgg#18865).
- Mobile and desktop fixes (theme contrast, settings rows, the PR action
bar, image caching, the iOS 27.2 black screen, Hyprland, updater
diagnostics).
- "Update everything" sidebar pill (pingdotgg#18053): inert against Moatless,
which advertises no `serverSelfUpdate` or `versionAdvisory`.

## Unsupported in Moatless / needs implementation
- Prompt-link "clone this repository"
(`NewThreadLinkView.cloneRepository`): needs `projectClone.start` and
the `projectCloneTracking` capability. It refuses with a message today.
Added to gaps.md under *Project and repository management*.
- Renaming built-in models (pingdotgg#18840): saves through
`server.updateSettings` (custom model entry with a built-in slug). It
stays behind `FEATURES.providerConfiguration`, under the existing
settings gap.
- Provider secret settings (pingdotgg#18505, `secretSetting` and
`isSecretSetting` in contracts): stored on the host, so they fall under
the same settings gap.

## Backend behavior to consider reproducing in Moatless
Recorded in gaps.md under *Runtime fixes upstream made to its own
server*:
- A confirmed Claude subagent outcome settles that task and its child
work (pingdotgg#18778, the new `subagent` target on
`thread.background-work.settle`).
- Claude thinking before a tool call stays a collapsed Thought (pingdotgg#18887).
- Codex title and branch-name generation no longer starts the user's MCP
servers (pingdotgg#17058).
- The event store resyncs a thread holding an event type from a newer
build (pingdotgg#15937, `isKnownOrchestrationV2EventType`).
- A migration id clash stops startup with a clear error (pingdotgg#15925).
- Cached branch PR lookups start no git process (pingdotgg#17063).
- PR head commits are reported for Forgejo, GitLab and Bitbucket
(pingdotgg#18463, pingdotgg#18608, pingdotgg#18402), and PR bases resolve to branch names (pingdotgg#18754).
