Copying an agent-authored Windows file path can put forward slashes on the clipboard, which Windows Open dialogs reject. This formats the existing file-chip, image/video menu, workspace-header, and file-preview copy actions using the file host’s path style across web/desktop and mobile. POSIX paths keep their style when accessed from a Windows client.

Formatting stays at clipboard writes. File targets, opening, sharing, downloads, permissions, URLs, contents, and composer references keep their existing representations. Feedback that includes a path shows the value actually copied. The current mobile file-preview menu is rebuilt each render and reads the current workspace directory.

Fixes #19142. Maintainer takeover of #19201, preserving @tonyjosephsebastians’s commits and cross-client investigation. Main was merged into the contributor branch.

Verification

• Reduced 46 added test cases in six files to 11 cases in five existing suites. Removed the standalone helper suite and ported the deleted web suites to current browser tests.
• 133 focused tests pass after integrating current main: 30 mobile, 19 web media unit, and 84 browser component tests. The eight additional cases come from main; this integration adds no test definitions. Eight regression cases fail with formatting disabled; POSIX and URL controls stay green.
• The initial full Opus/Sol round and one final full integration round found no code blockers. The merge at bc120fb66d preserves all 14 feature-file deltas byte-for-byte while retaining main’s lookup and toolbar cases. Contributor history remains intact.
• Scoped client-runtime, web, and mobile typechecks pass. Targeted formatting and lint pass; lint reports 25 preexisting warnings in unchanged ThreadFeed code.
• Linux web app with an isolated synthetic Windows project: actual clipboard writes and matching feedback for drive full/relative paths, UNC full paths, POSIX paths, line/column suffixes, workspace-header copy, and file-preview tab copy. The file-preview copy works while the synthetic Windows file itself cannot be opened on Linux.
• Additional rendered production media-menu fixture: drive image and UNC video full/relative copies use backslashes; a URL containing C:/ stays unchanged. Media bytes were not fetched or downloaded. Native mobile behavior is covered by focused tests and source review, not device execution.

Before / after

Same isolated conversation, viewport, and file-chip action. Before uses the exact main ChatMarkdown module; it was restored byte-for-byte before capturing head. Windows paths here are synthetic fixture data, not a live Windows environment.

Native Windows Open-dialog paste, macOS, Electron desktop, iOS/Android long-press delivery and menu updates, and remote/relay/tunnel connections were not run on this Linux host. The change covers the copy actions listed above; it does not normalize every filesystem-copy surface elsewhere in the app.

The original handler reproduced four failing clipboard cases. The fix passes 156 focused tests covering Windows drive paths, UNC shares, spaces, relative paths, and POSIX remote workspaces, plus the web typecheck. Scoped lint reports only existing warnings.

Native Windows Open-dialog verification and before/after UI screenshots remain pending: the built-in Browser was unavailable for verification. These limitations are recorded in the PR description.
