codesign --force --deep --sign - "$app" creates an ad hoc app signature. The workflow omits --installer-identity, so the script copies the unsigned pkgbuild output directly to the artifact. FYI. not sure if you used my preexisting arm64 PR as a base (existed a few days before yours was ever published) but if you aren't, let me know if there is any meaningful difference in the native ppc code from what my PR has. Might be best to merge after mine (PR #50) |

also if you aren't using it, git rebase is your friend and "github desktop" + vscode makes executing them accessible |

if u check the branch i fixed it but github is showing 0 commits still lol |

your branch is very behind main. you should rebase (as mentioned above) so it only has commits after main. |

I did use your aarch64-main work as the reference for the native PPC/AArch64 portion, especially the NEON paired-single path, FPCR NI handling, and PSQ fallback behavior. I included you as a co-author on the commit. |
|
yeah looks like this probably broke both linux support and windows support. you removed libco headers and linux libco cases from the fiber manager as well as the windows fiber manager cases. in theory, it should be possible to simply use libco for all targets rather than writing specific fiber managers for each system. @patchzyy lets merge #50 (and probably the CI PR first as well so its easier to test changes without full local buildsystems #85) and have @DarthMDev rebase on it first before reviewing this MacOS PR. It looks like there hasn't been much/any testing for breaking the other targets on this PR currently. |
I’m keeping the macOS backend separate for now because the vendored AArch64 libco implementation does not preserve Darwin’s x18 platform/TLS register, and it uses a runtime-generated executable switch thunk. The macOS assembly switch was specifically written to preserve x18 and avoid that dependency. So the intended layout is one shared fiber manager with platform backends: Windows Fibers, Linux libco, macOS assembly. |
|
whichever is merged first im happy to resolve any conflicts or issue that show up on other platforms |
|
i just tried the port now since i had access to a controller that could connect to my macbook and it run really great, no framedrops. (i'm using an m1 2020 macbook air with 8 gigs of ram if ur wondering) |

Nice job, everyone ! |
… validation Pulls in patchzyy/Wiicompiled@243eb86..8dc9bb6 (10 commits), most notably "add apple silicon native macOS support" (patchzyy#81) and Bluetooth Wii Remote support through KPAD (patchzyy#73). Both introduce real, non-trivial overlap with this fork's own iOS-specific work, so several spots needed more than a mechanical conflict resolution: - Critical fix, not flagged as a conflict by git at all: upstream's new MKW_PLATFORM_MACOS flag (runtime/CMakeLists.txt) was `APPLE AND arm64`, which is also true for an iOS cross-compile via ios.toolchain.cmake - APPLE=TRUE and CMAKE_SYSTEM_PROCESSOR=arm64 for both. Left as-is, an iOS build would have picked up guest_flat_memory_macos.cpp, which reserves the flat guest space at a FIXED address via mach_vm_allocate(..., VM_FLAGS_FIXED) - exactly the strategy this fork's own commit history already proved unreachable on iOS without the Extended Virtual Addressing entitlement (see guest_flat_memory.h's g_base comment). Merged verbatim, this would have silently reintroduced the "Unable to reserve the flat guest address space" crash for every iOS build. Fixed by scoping MKW_PLATFORM_MACOS to `CMAKE_SYSTEM_NAME STREQUAL "Darwin"` (ios.toolchain.cmake sets it to "iOS" instead - confirmed directly in ios.toolchain.cmake) and adding a proper MKW_PLATFORM_IOS flag. - Also not flagged as a conflict: the new HostContext Apple Silicon backend (src/platform/macos/co_switch.S, an x18-safe AArch64 context switch primitive - Apple's ABI reserves x18 and generic libco doesn't respect that) was only wired in under MKW_PLATFORM_MACOS. But host_context.cpp's `#elif defined(__APPLE__) && defined(__aarch64__)` branch is unconditional and fiber_manager.cpp already calls into it - an iOS build would have failed to link (undefined mkw_co_switch/ mkw_co_init) without this file. Verified it's genuinely platform-generic (pure calling-convention assembly, no syscalls or OS-version checks) before extending its CMake gate to MKW_PLATFORM_MACOS OR MKW_PLATFORM_IOS. - runtime_config.h: took upstream's new RuntimePlatform:: ExecutableDirectory()/ApplicationDataDirectory() (platform/ host_platform.cpp) over this fork's own inlined Apple-specific versions - verified the implementation already uses $HOME/Library/ Application Support, the same iOS-sandbox-safe convention this fork's own Phase 3 fix required, plus a getpwuid fallback the fork's version didn't have. - hle/input/pad.cpp: kept both PAD__Read_HLE additions (this fork's touch_controls::ApplyOverlay, upstream's WiiRemoteInput:: HideRemotesFromPad) but ordered ApplyOverlay second - it unconditionally resets port 0's err to PAD_ERR_NONE and merges its own button bits on top, so running it first would let HideRemotesFromPad zero the touch overlay's input right back out whenever port 0 happens to be a KPAD-served remote channel. - main.cpp: took upstream's narrower `#if defined(__x86_64__)` guard around <ucontext.h> over this fork's own broader Apple-specific _XOPEN_SOURCE workaround - confirmed the only consumer (uc_mcontext.gregs[REG_ERR]) is already scoped to __x86_64__, so ucontext_t is genuinely unused on arm64 (macOS or iOS) and the Apple-specific workaround wasn't actually needed. - guest_flat_memory.h/.cpp: kept both this fork's g_base (runtime-placed reservation pointer) and upstream's g_requiresCheckedAccess (needed on any non-fixed-page-size AArch64 target, iOS included, per MKW_GUEST_FLAT_FIXED_PAGE_SIZE's _WIN32/__x86_64__-only gate) - a purely positional collision, not an actual disagreement. - CMakeLists.txt/PublicProducts.cmake/AssemblyBlobWriter.cs: the remaining conflicts were genuine duplicate effort (both sides independently wrote near-identical Mach-O/Dawn-backend logic) or pure comment collisions; resolved by keeping whichever side's comment actually matched the shared code, or avoiding a redundant duplicate computation. - Left untouched as macOS-only, correctly: the native-macOS compile-audit block (CMakeLists.txt, only reachable when MKW_BUILD_PRODUCTS is off, which this fork's build never does) and the new IOKit/CoreFoundation linking for Bluetooth Wii Remote support (PublicProducts.cmake) - IOKit has no iOS equivalent, and this fork doesn't yet have an iOS path for Bluetooth Wii Remotes. Verified end-to-end with a real build: `ninja -C ios-build-simulator WiiCompiled` succeeds, co_switch.S compiles and links via the ASM toolchain, guest_flat_memory_macos.cpp is correctly excluded. A device build (--extended-virtual-addressing) was not run as part of this merge; recommend testing that path before relying on it. With these changes wiicompiled can be built and run natively on macOS apple silicon.
The installer is packaged as a .app after installing it with the .pkg. You run the installer inside Applications . It will open a terminal window for output and prompt for your disc image, whether you want base game or retro rewind and if u want retro rewind, the folder for retro rewind . The .app for retro rewind / wiicompiled will install to Applications folder after its done translating and compiling on the user's end.
macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later required
Requires Apple Xcode Command Line Tools as noted in the README addition
Can download wiicompiled-setup (for macOS) here: https://github.com/DarthMDev/Wiicompiled/releases/download/mac-test/WiiCompiled-Setup.pkg
Closes #69
I tested versus, time trial and battles. Everything seems stable.
