Conversation
📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe PR adds a manual installer packaging workflow, Windows dependency preparation, improved installer failure handling, and native prebuilt export support. ChangesInstaller packaging
Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~25 minutes Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to The PR adds CI packaging that uses unverified third-party archives and relies on Ubuntu 22.04 runners scheduled for deprecation, creating supply-chain and future build-availability risks; merge should wait for owner action or explicit acceptance. Only marked as draft due to including the ARM PR referenced above. Ready once that is merged and I can rebase. At minimum this CI can be convenient way to build the appimages without needing ubuntu 22.04 x86_64 and arm64 linux setups, functional windows support can come later if needed if the dependency building/sourcing will take @patchzyy time to get back on. |
|
Thanks, Sources (plain release tarballs, unpatched): SDL3 release-3.4.4, abseil LTS 20240722, fmt 11.1.4, freetype 2.14.3, imgui 1.91.9b, libpng 1.6.58, sqlite 3.51.3 amalgamation, zlib 1.3.2, zstd 1.5.7, xxhash 0.8.3, tracy 0.13.3, libusb 1.0.30.
Is that what you needed from me? |
|
Also,
So for the Windows side: a script that fetches the pinned tarballs + dawn_prebuilt + generates cppwinrt, and make the CMakeLists tolerate the missing shard manifest (skip the include, set the counts to 0, behind a variable) so it can build without running a translation. I can do it if you don't want to, just say. |

@patchzyy if you could add whatever support you need on the windows side that would be preferable. sounds like you know what needs adjusting already. You can see here that Build-Installer.ps1 is failing due to not having an offline dependency source to refer to https://github.com/theofficialgman/Wiicompiled/actions/runs/33335366492/job/99321194192 . The installer seems to require folders to be setup before ever running but its not clear to me from the source what those need to be and what they need to contain (ideally the installer itself would set them up if they are missing, that seems to be what other users expect |

I cant run the workflow from here since changes live on your repo, Can you press "Run workflow" on your side to make sure everything works as intended? |
|
btw all of the programs that were used are referenced here https://github.com/patchzyy/Wiicompiled/blob/main/THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md under "Fetched at build time and redistributed in release builds" |
|
This appears to have worked https://github.com/theofficialgman/Wiicompiled/actions/runs/33443424259 Good starting point at least for CI. If we are going to run this a lot, then it probably makes sense to think about CI caching results, but for releases it is fine. |
|
also, fyi, I typically prefer to use the "rebase and merge" option in github rather than the standard "merge" (you will find a dropdown on the merge button). it keeps the history linear in the main tree which makes it easier to read. |

update the staging process to place every required license text in licenses/ and
document that location accurately.
