fix(agent): leave a true click claim and a copied correction alone - #494
Conversation
A claim is not corrected when any matching click succeeded, only judged by the latest one when none did, and the loop no longer appends a correction the reply already contains. Closes existence-master#488.

- Line 979: Update the correction checks in the paths using text_acc and
result.text to detect an actual “Correction: {note}” line rather than any
substring occurrence of note. Append the correction unless that exact correction
entry already exists, preserving the existing note and step-limit behavior.

A reply that used the note's words elsewhere, next to a false click claim, was left uncorrected. Both paths now look for the Correction: line itself.

Thanks so much for this, @bercedev, and welcome to Sentient! 🎉 We ran it for real on qwen3:8b against a local page that logs real clicks:
- On main, a true "I clicked the Subscribe button" got corrected after a later declined retry, and a copied correction came out twice.
- On your branch, the true claim is left alone and the correction appears once.
The older #407 cases still behave. One tiny optional nit: test_browser_click_correction_uses_the_latest_call could be renamed, since "any success wins" is now the rule. Approving and merging. Great first PR!

Thank you, @itsskofficial, and thanks for running it against a real page! I renamed the test in 078568a to |
Closes #488
The two edges from #407's final test:
sentient/agent/loop.pythat appendCorrection: …(the final answer and the step-limit path) now skip it when the reply already contains the same note. That happens when qwen copies an earlier correction from the chat into its own reply._click_noteinsentient/agent/outcomes.pyreturns no correction when any matching click succeeded. Only when none did does the latest one pick the wording (declined / uncertain / failed), as before. So with "Subscribe" clicked once and declined on a later try, "I clicked the Subscribe button" is no longer corrected.Tests in
tests/test_agent_loop.py:test_reply_copying_an_earlier_correction_gets_no_second_one: a reply that already ends with the correction comes out unchanged, with oneCorrection:.test_browser_click_correction_keeps_a_click_that_succeeded_before_a_declined_retry: Subscribe succeeded then declined gives no correction, from this turn's calls and from history. A lone declined Subscribe still gets "you declined".Both fail on

I don't have that setup running, so these two edges are covered by the tests above only.
