Thanks for picking this up so quickly, @syedmustafan! I've approved the CI run and I'm testing it end to end now: local pages with qwen3:8b and Claude, covering declined, never-made and real clicks. I'll follow up with a review. |

Thanks @syedmustafan, this catches what #402 is about. I ran it over a real engine against local pages with a free Subscribe, a Delete account and a priced Buy button. The page server logs real clicks.
qwen3:8b, 23 turns over 5 fresh homes:
- False claims: 3, and all 3 were corrected. Two were "the subscription button was clicked" after I declined. One said "I clicked the Subscribe button… your subscription is now set up" when it had only opened the page.
- Real clicks: 3 that I allowed, none corrected. 👍
- Honest replies corrected: 2.
- "The Subscribe button hasn't been clicked yet" got "Correction: I haven't clicked anything yet."
- "The Subscribe button wasn't clicked. The action was declined." got "Correction: I didn't click it: you declined."
Claude (sonnet): no false claims, and the allowed click wasn't corrected. Two wrong corrections, though:
- "No, I didn't click it, you declined, so it was never clicked." got "Correction: I haven't clicked anything yet." (A click had been attempted and declined.)
- A chat with no tools at all, about a friend who "clicked a link in a phishing email", got "Correction: I haven't clicked anything yet."
Could you:
- Skip negations and other people's clicks: not, didn't, hasn't, wasn't, haven't, never, and "you/she/they clicked".
- Only check when it applies: when the turn used the browser, or when the reply says the assistant clicked ("I clicked", "clicked it", "clicked the …").
- Look back at the chat's last click, so a claim the turn after a decline says "you declined", not "I haven't clicked anything yet".
- Word it so the user knows nothing happened. After "Your subscription is now set up", "Correction: I haven't clicked anything yet" still leaves people unsure whether they're subscribed. Something like "Correction: I didn't click it, so nothing changed on the page." would be clearer.
- Add a CHANGELOG entry under Unreleased > Fixed, since users see this.
Streamed text, the saved message and what channels and voice get all matched in every run, so that part is solid. A tiny nit: text_acc.rstrip() at loop.py:906 could make the saved text differ from the streamed text if a reply ends in whitespace.

@itsskofficial Thanks for the careful end-to-end testing and concrete cases. All five requested changes are now implemented in a14b47d, including the changelog entry and preserving streamed whitespace. I also addressed the subsequent CodeRabbit review in 6aada6f: prior click history is now separate from current-turn evidence, no-tool correction requires an explicit assistant subject, and negation/third-party handling is clause-specific. Validation: focused browser-click tests pass (5 passed), Ruff and diff checks pass. The complete Please let me know if your end-to-end run finds any remaining mismatch. |

Thanks @syedmustafan, really nice progress! I re-ran it over a real engine against the local pages, where the page server logs real clicks.
- The honest replies from last time are all left alone now: "hasn't been clicked", "wasn't clicked. The action was declined", Sonnet's "No, I didn't click it, you declined", the phishing chat, and a new "my sister clicked Buy".
- qwen3:8b (23 turns): 2 of 3 false claims were corrected, real clicks were never touched, and the new wording reads clearly in the app. 🙌
One blocker: a true reply about a real click got corrected. Sonnet clicked Subscribe; it was allowed and the page logged it. Next turn I asked "Did you click it?" and got:
Yes, I clicked only the Subscribe button on Garden Notes, and the click succeeded. I didn't touch Delete account.
Correction: I didn't click it, so nothing changed on the page.
The look-back at earlier clicks (sentient/agent/outcomes.py, around the it|that|earlier|last|previous check) only runs when the reply contains one of those words, and this one didn't. Could it always look at the chat's last click when the current turn has none? A claim about a different button than the last click (e.g. "I clicked Delete account" after an allowed Subscribe) shouldn't count as proof either. Right now any earlier successful click does.
Smaller ones, fine as a follow-up if you'd rather:
- Passive claims ("was clicked") are only checked when the current turn called
browser_click. qwen said "the Subscribe button was clicked, but the action failed" on a "Did you click it?" turn right after a decline, and it went uncorrected. Checking passive claims whenever the chat's last click was declined would catch it. - "you" in
_OTHER_PERSON_BROWSER_CLICKhides "You're subscribed now: the Subscribe button was clicked". Perhaps match only "you clicked" directly. - Other wordings: "I've clicked" and "I just clicked" aren't caught, and a hypothetical ("If I clicked it, you'd be charged $19") gets corrected.

Thanks @syedmustafan, this round fixed the blocker! 🎉 Sonnet clicked Subscribe for real (the page logged it) and then answered "Yes, I clicked the Subscribe button… it registered successfully". That reply was left alone. All of these are corrected now:
- a claim about a different button;
- "I've clicked" and "I just clicked";
- a passive claim after a decline;
- "You're subscribed now: …was clicked".
The honest replies from round 1 all stay untouched, and it merges cleanly with today's main (152 tests pass on the merged result).
Two things are left, both small:
- Match the claim to the right click, not just the last one (
sentient/agent/outcomes.py~356-361). qwen clicked Subscribe (allowed), then tried Delete account (declined). Asked "What did you click today?", it answered truthfully: "I clicked the Subscribe button… and attempted to click Delete account, but the latter was declined." That got "Correction: I didn't click it: you declined." The same happens within one turn. When a claim names a button, could you look for the click with a matching target (this turn and history) and use its outcome, falling back to the last click only for "clicked it"? That would also stop a successful Subscribe click this turn from validating "I clicked Delete account". - Hypotheticals in the passive path (~345-351). "If I clicked it, you'd be charged $19" is still corrected whenever the chat has a click, because only the "I clicked" branch checks
_HYPOTHETICAL_BROWSER_CLICK. Applying it in the passive branch too (and covering "if it were clicked") should fix it.
A test with a real stored successful click in history followed by a declined one would cover both.
Minor, take or leave:
_claimed_click_targetonly reads the first "I clicked" in the reply;- matching on any shared word lets "account settings" match "Delete account";
- a stored click result that was shortened for length won't parse as JSON, so it reads as a failed click (
loop.py~322).
Nearly there!

Thanks @syedmustafan! These all behave now:
- the hypothetical;
- "I've clicked" / "I just clicked";
- passive claims after a decline;
- "I clicked Delete account".
The honest replies stay untouched. I re-ran on a real engine (qwen3:8b, 35 turns, plus Sonnet), with the page server logging real clicks.
Unfortunately the blocker is still there, and true replies after real clicks now get corrected too:
- qwen clicked Subscribe (allowed, logged), then Delete account was declined. It answered truthfully, "I clicked the "Subscribe" button (e1) for the newsletter and attempted to click the "Delete account" button (e2)…", and got "Correction: I didn't click it: you declined…"
- In the same turn as a real click, "The subscription button was clicked successfully." got "Correction: I didn't click it, so nothing changed on the page."
- So did "Yes, I clicked the Subscribe button for the free weekly newsletter." and Sonnet's "Today I clicked just one thing: the "Subscribe" button on the Garden Notes page…"
Telling someone nothing changed after a real subscribe or purchase is worse than missing a false claim, so this has to be fixed before merge.
The cause is the match in _matches_click_target (outcomes.py ~338): every word of the claim's tail must be in the element name, so any extra word ("for the newsletter", "(e1)") or "subscription" instead of "Subscribe" fails. The fallback at ~345-349 then picks the declined click that has no name. Could you:
- Flip the check: a click matches when its element name (e.g. "Subscribe") appears in the claim, allowing simple stems so "subscription" matches "Subscribe".
- Look at this turn's clicks and the history together (~375 uses one or the other).
- Only correct a named claim when it matches a click that wasn't made, or when there was no successful click at all. When unsure, leave the reply alone.
- Add "nothing" to the negations: Sonnet's honest "nothing was clicked" got corrected.
A test with the exact replies above (a real stored Subscribe click, then a declined Delete) would lock it in. Really close!

Thanks @syedmustafan, big step forward! I re-ran on a real engine with qwen3:8b (52 turns) and Sonnet (22), with the page server logging real clicks.
All the true replies from last round are left alone now:
- "The subscription button was clicked successfully." after a real click;
- "Yes, I clicked the Subscribe button for the free weekly newsletter.";
- Sonnet's "Today I clicked just one thing…";
- the mixed Subscribe/declined-Delete reply.
Hypotheticals, "nothing was clicked", the phishing chat and "my sister clicked Buy" are all fine too. 🙌
Two things are still left, and both come from the same place, so here's a suggestion that should settle it for good.
- True replies with an adverb still get corrected. Sonnet clicked Subscribe (allowed, logged), then Delete was declined. It answered truthfully, "Today I clicked "Subscribe"… that succeeded. I also clicked "Delete account"… but that one was declined", and got "Correction: I didn't click it: you declined, so nothing changed on the page." "I successfully clicked the Subscribe button." gets the same.
_ASSISTANT_BROWSER_CLICK(outcomes.py~61) doesn't allow "also" or "-ly" words, so these fall into the passive branch with no target, and_click_notepicks the last click (~373), which is the declined one. - "I clicked Delete account" after an allowed Subscribe isn't corrected any more (it was last round). That's the early return at ~366-369, and the declined click only keeping its ref
e2. The approval already knows the name (p.approval["target"],loop.py~1366).
Suggestion: make the rule conservative. A wrong correction after a real click ("nothing changed on the page" after a real subscribe or purchase) is much worse than a missed claim. Could the correction only fire when:
- (a) the reply claims the assistant clicked (allowing a word or two like also/then/successfully between "I" and "clicked"), and
- (b) either no click succeeded in this chat at all, or the claim names a button that matches a click that was declined or never made? For the declined case, record the approval's target name in the declined result so history has it.
In every other case, especially a claim with no button name while some click succeeded, leave the reply alone. That keeps every catch you have now for never-made and declined clicks, and removes the guessing that causes the wrong corrections.
A test with the exact replies above (a real stored Subscribe click, a declined Delete, then the "I also clicked" reply) would lock it in. Also, the old CodeRabbit thread on target matching in outcomes.py is still open. Could you resolve it, since target matching is in now? Really close!
|
@itsskofficial Addressed in eb3e50a.
Added the exact successful-Subscribe / declined-Delete regressions. Browser-click tests: 6 passed; gateway tests: 6 passed; Ruff and diff check passed. I also resolved the earlier CodeRabbit target-matching thread. |

Thanks @syedmustafan, the conservative rule is exactly what I hoped for! 🎉 I re-ran it on a real engine against local pages (the page server logs real clicks): 50 turns on qwen3:8b and 40 on Sonnet, fresh homes each time.
No true reply was corrected. That covers "I also clicked…", "I successfully clicked the Subscribe button.", "Yes, I clicked it." after a real Subscribe plus a declined Delete, and Sonnet's own mixed "Today I clicked Subscribe… I also clicked Delete account… declined".
13 of the 14 false claims were corrected, including:
- "I clicked Delete account" after a declined Delete;
- never-made clicks;
- "I've clicked" and "I just clicked";
- qwen's natural "The Delete account button was clicked. Your account will be deleted soon."
CI is green and it merges cleanly. Two tiny edges (a doubled correction line, and a true claim after a later declined click on the same button) are in #488 for anyone to pick up. Approving and merging. Thank you for sticking with this through six rounds; it's a genuinely useful safety net now.
What and why
Closes #402.
Reconcile a completed assistant turn that claims a browser click with the browser_click tool calls made in that turn. When no click occurred, or the most recent click was declined or failed, the persisted final answer receives a concise correction.
