Conversation
נוסף `_ALLOWED_BY_EVENT`, שפותח את השדה על `$mcp_missing_capability` בלבד. `$mcp_parameters` חסום גם שם. Reviewer's GuideThis PR adds four opt-in MCP capabilities—missing-capability analytics reporting, repository search context, repository tree statistics, and line-range file reads—implemented through additive optional parameters, shared range helpers, real git parsing, bounded indexed metadata queries, and privacy-aware analytics filtering. Existing tool schemas and response shapes remain unchanged when the new parameters are omitted, with extensive regression and mutation-tested coverage. - Line 124: Update the $mcp_missing_capability handling in _ALLOWED_BY_EVENT so
raw $mcp_intent text is never sent to PostHog; replace it with a
server-controlled capability identifier while preserving only safe event
metadata. Update the related documentation and privacy tests to verify that file
contents, PII, and secrets cannot reach analytics.
In `@mcp_server/handlers.py`:
In `@mcp_server/repo_backend.py`:
- Line 345: Update the shared line-counting behavior used by apply_line_range
and the file metadata path so file.lines and range.total_lines derive from the
same definition of total lines. Adjust the logic in repo_backend around
apply_line_range, and the corresponding file line calculation in
services/git_mirror_service.py, to handle trailing-newline content consistently;
add a test covering a file ending with "\n" to verify both paths return the same
line count.
In `@tests/test_mcp_handlers.py`:
- Line 24: עדכן את `_BackendWithExistingFile.get_file()` כך שיתעד קריאה ב־tuple

`content.count("\n") + 1` ואני ספרתי `splitlines()`, ולכן כל קובץ שנגמר
`range.total_lines`.
ב-`git_mirror_service`, `lines_count` ב-`database/models.py` וב-
`split("\n")`
`range_out_of_bounds` כשמבקשים אותה.
ש-`total_lines` מצהיר עליה.
`entries.lines` ב-`list_repo_tree` נשאר של האינדקסר (`splitlines`).
תקלה — הקודים ואופן הזיהוי נלקחו מ-`DatabaseManager.safe_create_index`

…ndex The previous round added an index for repo_files with its own conflict handling, copied from DatabaseManager.safe_create_index. It copied the detection and dropped the verification: it treated codes 85/86 and "already exists" as success, while the real helper re-reads the existing indexes after a conflict and only succeeds if the keys AND the unique flag match (_index_matches). Code 86 means "same name, different keys" — exactly not covered — so the duplicate would have reported success and left lookups on a full collection scan. It also asked for a non-unique index, reasoning that only lookups were needed. That missed the second-order effect: a non-unique index on those keys blocks the unique one. scripts/create_repo_indexes.py declares (repo_name, path) as unique, and the indexer's upsert assumes that identity — the script would have hit IndexOptionsConflict and failed, so a fresh database would have stayed without the constraint permanently. RepoBackend now takes an injected db_manager (the same wiring ProductionBackend already uses) and delegates both indexes with unique=True. Without a manager no index is attempted — better than duplicating the policy again. Each creation sits in its own try so one failure neither skips the other nor takes the server down; a missing index costs performance, not correctness. Also documents the byte-for-byte line-range behaviour on CRLF files. Splitting on "\n" keeps two properties that splitlines() would break: the full range returns the file exactly, and joining adjacent ranges reconstructs it. It also keeps count_lines consistent with file.lines in the same response — the contradiction fixed one round ago. Unit Tests (3.11) failed with `assert 200 == 429` while Unit Tests (3.12) passed on the same commit — the 3.11 runner took 6m20s against 4m19s. Root cause, by elimination on webapp/app.py:5431-5464. The second request can only return 200 if the exemption zeroed the cooldown or if the window had already expired. The exemption reads session["user_id"], and the test uses a fresh unauthenticated test_client, so it returns False on its first line. That leaves the window: the test gave it two seconds, and the first request creates a thread plus an asyncio loop for the first time in the process (_ensure_db_health_async_loop). CI runs pytest -n auto, so several test processes compete for the same CPU and that setup can outlast the window — after which the endpoint correctly returns 200. Reproduced by delaying the first request by 2.5s: request two comes back 200 with a 2s window and 429 with the long one, and still 429 at 5s. The test asserts that a second call inside the window is rate-limited, not how long the window lasts, so the window is now long enough that no plausible runner stall can expire it. Also restores coverage a reviewer flagged as lost: the index-failure test now asserts the warning actually reaches the log, with the collection name and the traceback. A missing index leaves lookups on a full collection scan, which reads as "a bit slow" rather than as a fault — if it never reaches the log, nobody knows to look for it. Verified by mutation: dropping the logging, dropping exc_info, or dropping the collection name each fails the test. codekeeper_get_file returned snippetEmbedding on every call: 768 floats, about 10KB, regardless of the file's size. On a 1.8KB saved file the vector was six times the rest of the response, and on a six-line range read it was twenty-five times the payload — the opposite of what the lines parameter added in #3316 was for. Nine more embedding bookkeeping fields rode along with it. Three tools leaked it, all through the same serializer on an unprojected document: get_file, list_versions (a vector per version), and save_file's re-fetched result. list_files and search_code were already clean — both have an inclusion $project — so this is narrower than it first looked. The root is that _clean copies every key of the Mongo document and filters only four names. Any field the collection gains lands in the agent's context; the embedding family is one instance of that, not a special case. The fix drops that family in the serializer, so one change covers all three surfaces. Nothing reads these back from here. The vector is consumed only inside Mongo by $vectorSearch, and the processing flags are fetched by the embedding worker through its own projection. The MCP's own edit path reads code, programming_language, description and tags, all of which stay. The list duplicates SNIPPET_SEMANTIC_FIELDS from database/schemas.py because importing it would execute database/__init__.py, which constructs DatabaseManager() at import time and breaks the package's light-import rule. A test asserts the two sets are equal in both directions, so a field added there cannot leak here and a field removed there cannot linger. Verified by mutation: removing the filter, adding a field to the schema, removing one from it, and over-filtering a documented field each fail.
