Showcase digest: recent posts sorted by thumbs up, with comment count #126

Description

@wiktoriavh

Why

Members miss good showcase posts. A periodic digest of recent posts helps them find the best ones.

Acceptance Criteria

  • The bot posts one message listing the showcase posts created in the last n days.
  • Each entry links to its post.
  • Entries are sorted by thumbs-up reactions, highest first.
  • Each entry shows the number of comments the post received.
  • The sorting and counting logic is covered by unit tests.

Open Questions

  • What is the default n, and is it configurable?
  • How is the digest triggered (scheduled job, command)?
  • How are ties handled?
  • Which role, if any, is tagged?
  • What happens when there are no new posts?

Out of Scope

  • Voting, results, and roles (separate child issues).

    Answering open questions

    • Default n should be weekly, configurable through the .env
    • It should be a scheduled job because the moderation team should be a bit more hands off
    • A role should be self-assignable on the roles section in the server guide. Showcase Digest
    • No message is displayed and noone is pinged, the showcase fails silently.
    • Channel name: Spotlight

    Weekly digest:
Just show all of the posts in order of thumbs up, tie break by time

    Let's start with n = 14, since the activity isn't very high.
Cron job makes sense, we need to decide on a day. let's go with Friday 16:00 UTC
    I agree with the role.
Should not make a post, i agree.
    Channel name would be: showcase-spotlight

    tiebreaker makes sense to me.

from my pov this is triaged.
