The stylesheet carries a NUL byte, so text tools treat it as binary #674
static/css/daw.css contains a literal NUL byte at the click-track hint's empty ::before.
The rule reserves the hint's line with a non-breaking space. The escape was written as a raw NUL followed by a0 instead of \00a0, so the file has carried a control character since the top bar was reworked.
Two consequences
The declaration does not do what it says. CSS preprocessing replaces a NUL with U+FFFD, so it renders a replacement character where the space should be. Nothing looks wrong, because the element is visibility: hidden and any content reserves the line equally well. That is also why it survived review.
The larger one is that it makes the file binary to every text tool. grep reports "binary file matches" and prints nothing, and git diff shows no diff without --text. That is a poor thing to have in the biggest stylesheet in the repo, and it hid a second bug: searching this file for the rules behind another problem came back empty, which looked like the rules did not exist.
Reproducing
grep -n "flex-wrap" static/css/daw.css
Prints Binary file static/css/daw.css matches and nothing else.
