I'm on the latest release and the issue still happens.
I searched existing issues and didn't find a duplicate.
What happened?
Inconsistency in Extract Section of the UI when viewing a song from the library versus when uploading a song
When I click a song that exists in the library, the Extract section shows the name of the Song in the Search Field. And shows what stems were extracted by highlighting the stem choices in the extract sections. See image called SONG 1.
When I upload the song and splitting starts, the search field removes the name of the song this uploaded and processed. I think UI consistency needs to be there - similar to above. See image SONG 2
In both images you can see different stem choices were selected in extract options. But the ALL button is always highlighted. I think that should be only if all stems were selected.
Also dont understand the need for 2 buttons call ALL
Thanks for this, and for the two screenshots side by side. That is what made it quick to check, because the three things you spotted turned out to have three different answers.
I reproduced all of it against a real import rather than guessing, so here is what I found for each.
The All button is wrong, and it is worse than you saw. You are right that it stays highlighted when only some stems are selected. It is not limited to opening a track from the library either: it happens on every page load. I chose vocals and drums, ran a split, and the button correctly went dark. After a reload, with those same two stems still selected, it was lit again. The reason is that the button only recalculates itself when you click a stem. The saved selection is restored a moment after the page wires itself up, and nothing tells the button to look again. Opening a track from the library has the same gap: it updates each stem chip and never touches All. That is a real bug and I am fixing it.
The two buttons called All are also a fair complaint. They are genuinely different things wearing the same word. The first one means every stem. The second one, the one that appears beside Vocals, means keep the vocals as a single track rather than splitting them into lead and backing. They are both on screen at once whenever Vocals is selected, which is the default, so of course it reads as a duplicate. The second one needs a different name and I have opened that separately.
The search field is the one that has already changed, and not in the direction you were hoping. In 0.17.2 opening a track did put its name in that box, and for an uploaded file it put the bare filename there. That is what your first screenshot shows. It had to go, because that box is not a caption for the track you are looking at, it is the input the Split stems button submits. A filename in it armed that button with something that can never resolve, so pressing it tried to fetch "my song.mp3" as if it were a link, and the whole thing failed. That was the bug behind #635.
So in the next release the box is empty unless there is a real link in it, for library tracks and uploads alike. Consistent, as you asked, but by removing the name rather than showing it in both places. If you want the track title visible while you are looking at it, that is worth its own request, because the right answer is probably to show it somewhere that is not an input field.
Thanks again. Several of your reports are fixed and going out shortly.
Closing this one, with one of the three still live and split out.
The All button is fixed. It stays dark now when only some stems are selected, on a reload and when you open a track from the library, which were the two paths where it never recalculated. That was #658.
The song name is back, in a better place than the search box. You wanted the interface consistent about naming the track you are looking at, and you were right that it was not. Putting it back in the search field was not the way, because that box is the thing the Split stems button submits: a filename sitting in it armed that button with something it could never fetch. So the loaded track now has its own place in the top bar, with its artwork, its length, how many stems it has and where it came from. It is there whether you imported a link or a file, which is the consistency you were asking for.
The two buttons called All is still open, as #659. They really are two different things wearing one word: one means every stem, the other means keep the vocals as a single track rather than splitting them into lead and backing. The second needs a different name, and picking one that stays short in ten languages is the part that needs thought.
Thanks for writing all three up separately in one report. It made them quick to take apart.

Make the vocals control honest, keep the Extract row on one line, and…
