[Bug]: Usability: UI cleanup #636

Description

@wastedbits

Before reporting

  • I'm on the latest release and the issue still happens.
  • I searched existing issues and didn't find a duplicate.

What happened?

In the spirit of saving UI real estate, here are a couple of things I think are note necessary.

  1. The Extract menu items have a bullet point in each box. I think those bullets can be eliminated.
  2. In the library, why does each song have a green dot at the tail end? seems unnecessary
  3. Also in the library, each sone is preceded by a musical symbol before it. Is there any significance to it? I think they are all going to be songs right? Kinda like Spotify library or Moises, no symbol needed.
  4. In the far upper right, why not remove the notifications bell icon from there is put it in the far left menu panel? Maybe under settings. Currently notifications location seems wrong as the upper row is dedicated to splitting.

Just my thoughts...

    one more UI item...

The hamburger menu icon toggles the library but the library button doesn't toggle the library. That seems weird.
I suggest eliminate the hamburger icon, add the toggle function tot he library button

Hi @wastedbits, really good points, thank you for highlighting them, Points from my side :

The Extract menu items have a bullet point in each box. I think those bullets can be eliminated.

will be in on the next release

In the library, why does each song have a green dot at the tail end? seems unnecessary

Back on the first versions, it was a cheap way to display status of the song during the import, with the current version can go away. will be in on the next release

Also in the library, each sone is preceded by a musical symbol before it. Is there any significance to it? I think they are all going to be songs right? Kinda like Spotify library or Moises, no symbol needed.

You saying the trash icon? May need a screenshot since i cant see th musical symbol

Agree, good call, will be on the next release.

The hamburger menu icon toggles the library but the library button doesn't toggle the library. That seems weird.
I suggest eliminate the hamburger icon, add the toggle function tot he library button

I have tried that aproach in the past, by having double click to hide/display any of the sections but I reverted that since was not intuitive for some users. this one will stay as is until I ( or contributors ) find something that I feel that is natural for everybody.

    I'm old... or tired...

Somehow I was truly not seeing those 🤦🏻‍♂️

Those are mostly used for thumbnails, help as a visual guide for imported videos from youtube/soundcloud, for example:

When it is an imported audio though, that's the default image used. For now I will let those in since sometimes even myself import different versions of the same song and the visual aid helps with the identification.
