I'm on the latest release and the issue still happens.
I searched existing issues and didn't find a duplicate.
What happened?
Lower portion of the screen is distorted only when UI is maximized
Steps to reproduce
Play any song
everything is great then maximize window and see the click track and associated controls get distorted
Unmaximize window and everything is back to working correctly
My set up is a very large screen (140"), with Windows scaling set to 250%,
Installed the latest Stemdeck with NVDIA version
Uploading a video file is failing here in gtihub. So here's the link
Thanks for the video. That was the thing that made this readable. I pulled it apart frame by frame and it settled several questions at once.
What it shows: the controls are not moving up and down, and they are not moving as a block. The gaps between the clusters are growing and shrinking. Transport stays exactly where it is, the loop fields move about 3 pixels, Speed about 6, Click Track about 10, and Export Mix does not move at all because it sits outside that strip. So roughly ten pixels of space is appearing and disappearing, and the layout spreads it across every gap, which is what makes the whole row look like it is breathing.
The part I did not expect: it is in time with the music. The flicker repeats every 230 milliseconds, and your track is 127 BPM, so that is exactly twice per beat. It also starts the moment the window is maximized and stops the moment it is not, which matches what you described.
That gives me two things to narrow down, and both are quicker for you to try than for me to guess at. Whenever you have a moment:
Maximize with the click track switched off. Does it still shake?
Maximize while playback is paused. Does it still shake?
Either answer is useful. If turning the click track off settles it, I know what to look for. If it shakes while paused, the tempo link is a red herring and I go back to the layout code.
One more thing that would help if it is easy: roughly how wide the window is when maximized. The problem only appears at one particular width, so knowing yours lets me reproduce it here instead of hunting for it.
No rush on any of this, and thanks again for the recording.
The footer has changed a lot since you reported it. The waveform strip along the bottom is gone, the block naming the loaded track has moved up into the top bar, and the row of controls no longer changes size when a track loads. Any of that could have moved whatever was oscillating, so the next release may simply behave.
I could not reproduce it here, which is why I asked about the click track and about pausing. Those questions still stand if you get a chance, but if it is easier, waiting for the next release and trying again at the same window size is just as useful to me. Either answer tells me something.
You didn't miss anything.the play-first-then-maximize detail is the most useful part of this. I set up exactly your window size at 250% scaling and ran both orders against 0.17.2 and against the current code, and the row stays put in all of them here, so this needs your setup to show. The footer has been rebuilt since 0.17.2, and the next release is the real test: play, then maximize. I'm going to keep this one opened.
Thanks for sticking with this one, and for confirming it still happens in 0.18.1.
I still cannot make it happen here, so this fix is my best reading of what your recording shows. At 250% scaling, the row of controls can pick up a tiny amount of overflow and briefly grow a hidden scrollbar. That changes its width, the layout reacts by spacing the controls differently, the scrollbar goes away, and the cycle repeats. That would explain every gap moving while Export Mix stays put. #700 stops the row from ever growing that scrollbar. It also makes the layout ignore a change of less than 24 pixels, so small wobbles can no longer set it swinging back and forth.
I am leaving this issue open until you have tried it. When the next release is out, the test is the one you described: play a song, then maximize the window. Let me know what you see.
I could not reproduce this here, even at your exact window size and scaling, so I am closing it as can't reproduce. The change in #700 targets the likeliest cause, and it will be in the next release. If the row still shakes after that, reopen this and I will take another look.

I tried to do what you asked me and it makes no difference whether the click track is on or not. The issue is still present.
If I maximize the window and them play the song then bug is not present/no "shake"
The issue is only if I play first and them Maximize.
I am running my display at 4k. The Stemdeck window when maximized is 3840x2038 pixels. Rest of the vertical pixels are taken up by Windows Taskbar.

This UI "shake" issue still exists in 0.18.1. Please let me know what you need from me to help with this.
Overall UI looks nice

fix(ui): five 0.18.1 interface bugs from the issue tracker (#700)
