Sourcegit UI no longer refreshes after git operations #2811
This seems to be happening after the most recent update.
If I do anything in sourcegit (commit, push, pull, etc.) the UI doesn't update after the operation at all
I have to close/reopen that repo to see the changes.

Is sourcegit watching paths that are gitignored?
I have gitignored folders in multiple repos that have millions of files in them. I can hear disk activity on the HDD that has those files going haywire when i start sourcegit
git tag -l --format="%(refname)%00%(objecttype)%00%(objectname)%00%(*objectname)%00%(taggername)±%(taggeremail:trim)%00%(creatordate:unix)%00%(contents:subject)%0a%0a%(contents:body)"

It may be related to a known issue with C# file-system watcher (which is linux-only).
And you can use
F5to refresh the repository or re-open it inSourceGitinstead of re-starting this app.love-linger commentedon Oct 26, 2026
You can also try
ulimit -n <SOME_LARGE_NUMBER> && sourcegitto startSourceGitrvaidya commentedon Oct 29, 2026

SourceGit does not read the files on disk directly for watching file-system changes. It uses
inotify(a feature provided by kernel) on Linux.It may because when you open a repository in
SourceGit, the following commands starts to get information needed bySourceGitimmediately:Walden362 commentedon Nov 5, 2026
I have the same problem on Windows. Refreshing doesn't change anything.
