In 0.28.2025031108, the xml.completion.autoCloseTags setting fails on new files until the editor window is left and reopened.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open a new editor with Ctrl-N
- Set the language to XML with Ctrl-K M "xml"
- type
<root>
Expected: </root> is added behind the cursor
Actual: <root> is not added
- Now open another new editor with Ctrl-N
- Return to the previous editor with Ctrl-Tab
- Delete the
<root> string
- type
<root>
Observe that </root> is now being added behind the cursor
