Description

When i run npx react-native run-android command i get below error. I'am using React-Native-Navigation library by wix and
android/build.gradle
classpath "org.jetbrains.kotlin:kotlin-gradle-plugin:$kotlinVersion"
inside node_modules/react-native/ReactAndroid/build.gradle are conflict
id("org.jetbrains.kotlin.android") version "1.6.10"

Thanks for the report. This is most likely a bug on New Architecture that I'd like to fix.

To unblock you, can you remove the:

 classpath "org.jetbrains.kotlin:kotlin-gradle-plugin:$kotlinVersion"

line in your top level build.gradle?

I tried that yesterday and the build compiled successfully.
But I didn't update it here as I wasn't sure if it should be done or not.

Theoretically, nope it should not be done.
What's happening is that the ReactAndroid build is imposing a Kotlin version (1.6.10) which will conflict which the version you have in the template. As a rule of thumb, the version in the template should be preferred and the ReactAndroid build should not impose Kotlin versions.

@cortinico, I actually removed the version specified inside the ReactAndroid's build.gradle file.
At first, I tried to remove it from the top level build.gradle inside my app but It did not work for me as react-native-webview required this plugin.

I think, you were also suggesting this. right?

That also works, but it will break as soon as you run yarn install again as you'll lose that file.

Removing from top level not working. I need to remove it from inside the ReactAndroid file for it to work.
