Provider update marker uses a continuously repainting bounce animation #148
apps/web/src/components/settings/ProviderInstanceCard.tsx renders the
update-available marker with [animation:bounce_2.4s_ease-in-out_infinite].
Two problems:
AGENTS.md forbids the category. "No continuously repainting animations;
they peg the GPU on high-refresh displays." This one runs forever while the
provider list is open, and Settings is a screen people leave open.
Bounce easing reads as dated. Real objects decelerate smoothly; an
ease-out-quart/quint/expo settle would say the same thing without the
springiness. Flagged independently by the repo's design hook
(bounce-easing).
motion-reduce:animate-none is already applied, so the accessibility path is
covered — this is about the default path.
Introduced by a9d75ce1e, merged in #125, restoring an update cue that a
previous refactor had dropped. The cue itself is worth keeping; it is the infinite bounce that should change. A single settle on appearance, or a static
marker, would satisfy both points.
Left untouched by the 2026-08-28 batch because no branch in it modified that
line, and changing it belonged in its own change rather than an upstream
adoption.
