The composer banner printed the reset with toLocaleString(), so it showed a 12-hour clock with seconds even when Time format was 24-hour, while the timeline row above it formats the same resetAt with the setting. Use formatUpcomingTimestamp with the client's timestampFormat, as the timeline row does. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The default Time format is "locale", so most users see this banner path. Add it to the reset-time cases; it fails on main the same way the explicit 12-hour and 24-hour cases do. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Compare against fixed strings instead of formatShortTimestamp, which mirrored the implementation, and cover a reset that lands tomorrow. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
ApprovabilityVerdict: Approved at Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a narrowly scoped presentation fix that routes the existing time-format preference through the shared timestamp formatter. It changes only the usage-limit banner’s displayed reset text, with tests covering 12-hour, 24-hour, and tomorrow cases. You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Learn more. |

When a run stops on a usage limit, the composer banner printed the reset time with
toLocaleString(). It ignored Settings > Time format, so with 24-hour selected it read "Resets 10/21/2026, 5:30:00 PM" while the timeline row right above it read "Retry after tomorrow at 17:30".Takeover of #22112 by @only21mil. Their commits are kept with their authorship. The banner now uses
formatUpcomingTimestampwith the client'stimestampFormat, the same helper and setting the timeline row uses. I changed the test to assert fixed strings instead of comparing againstformatShortTimestamp, which copied the implementation, and added a case for a reset tomorrow. This covers web and desktop (desktop renders the same component). Mobile does not render this banner and is not changed. The banner label does not tick over at midnight on its own. That is the same as the timeline row (
TimelineWorkEntryRow.tsx, which also uses the defaultDate.now()), and the label updates on the next render.Screenshots are component renders in headless Chromium with Time format set to 24-hour, not a full app run.
Proof:
UsageLimitRecoveryBanner.test.tsxfails 3 of 3 with main's banner code (for example, expected "Resets 17:30", received "Resets 10/20/2026, 5:30:00 PM") and passes 3 of 3 here. It also passes withTZ=UTC,TZ=Pacific/Auckland LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, andTZ=America/Chicago LANG=en_US.UTF-8.vp run check:changedpasses (format, lint, knip, typecheck, tests). I did not run the full app or test the "locale" Time format with a fixed string, because its output depends on the host locale. If #21952 merges first, its banner test fixture needs the new
timestampFormatprop.Made by Claude Opus 5.5 in Claude Code, running in T3 Code.
