Problem

Keyboard and Follow-ups still rendered a flat Android header/body join in #18516. Auditing the registered routes, split panes, overlays, and fallback states found the same missing shared boundary elsewhere.

Change

Use the existing 28dp Material content frame across settings, environment management, attachments, browser/app panels, PR discussions/reviewers/guides, comment and arrangement screens, and workspace empty/error states. Home, thread, and PR content now share that frame instead of duplicating its corners. Preserve the sheet sizing modes, viewport measurements, colors, and split-pane gutters.

Remove the settings form-sheet bypass and default Android headers to a borderless join. A scoped import restriction makes settings routes use SettingsScreen; replaying the original Keyboard source fails lint.

Scope and approval

Requested audit following the Android screenshots in #18516. This fixes inconsistent use of the established Android content frame. Immersive media/device viewers and native Clerk screens retain their own presentation.

Verification

  • Mobile typecheck, scoped lint, formatting, and diff checks pass. Lint has existing React warnings.
  • 65 focused layout and navigation tests pass after rebasing onto current main.
  • Rebuilt and ran the actual Android development client against isolated copied state. Captured folded, unfolded, tablet-sized portrait/landscape, visible/collapsed sidebar, dark/light, settings, environments, files/review/terminal/git, PR detail/diff, reviewer error, unavailable discussion, disabled guide, agents/queue, comment/app unavailable states, and Arrange Threads.
  • Temporary paths used to reach parameter-driven sheets were removed. Screenshot evidence is outside the branch.
  • Full source audit covers browser streaming, attachment viewers, generic sheets, onboarding, worktree setup, recovery branches, and native/vendor overlays. Live browser streaming, worktree setup progress, populated review guides/discussions, drag/drop mutations, and iOS device verification were not exercised.

Before / after

Matched actual Android captures. Every capture shows the entire screen. Unfolded: 2076×2152; tablet landscape: 2560×1600.

Approvability

Verdict: Not approved

Macroscope's review found this PR not approvable — This PR introduces a shared Android content-frame behavior across numerous production routes and changes default header and settings presentation semantics. The cross-cutting runtime impact and changed product defaults warrant human review.

Mobile screens and sheets now use a shared content wrapper with selectable backgrounds. Android headers use updated border and navigation layouts. Settings routes use shared screen framing, and route-specific layouts have been adjusted.

Changes

Mobile screen layout

Layer / File(s) Summary
Shared content and header behavior
apps/mobile/src/components/MaterialScreenContent.tsx, apps/mobile/src/components/AndroidScreenHeader.tsx
MaterialScreenContent supports sheet, screen, and thread backgrounds. Android screen headers hide their bottom border by default.
General screen and sheet surfaces
apps/mobile/src/Stack.tsx, apps/mobile/src/components/AppSheet.tsx, apps/mobile/src/features/browser/*, apps/mobile/src/features/cloud/*, apps/mobile/src/features/connection/*, apps/mobile/src/features/files/*, apps/mobile/src/features/home/*, apps/mobile/src/features/layout/WorkspaceEmptyDetail.tsx, apps/mobile/src/features/threads/NewTaskDraftScreen.tsx, apps/mobile/src/features/workspace/WorkspaceRootScreen.android.tsx
These screens and sheets wrap content with MaterialScreenContent. Several Android headers hide their bottom borders.
Pull request screens
apps/mobile/src/features/pull-requests/*
Discussion, reviewer, tab, diff, and guide content use MaterialScreenContent; Android headers hide their bottom borders.
Thread and composer layouts
apps/mobile/src/features/review/ReviewCommentComposerSheet.tsx, apps/mobile/src/features/threads/*
Thread and app screens, arrangement and worktree sheets, and the review composer update their content wrappers or Android header layouts.
Shared settings screen framing
apps/mobile/src/features/connection/ConnectionsNewRouteScreen.tsx, apps/mobile/src/features/settings/*, apps/mobile/src/features/settings/components/*, vite.config.ts
Settings routes adopt SettingsScreen; its formSheet prop is removed. The legal document route adds Android header actions, and lint rules restrict route-level header imports.

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to 07692

Android screens gain the shared rounded content frame and toolbar. The reviewed list retains accurate scrolling, and the fullscreen app uses the space beneath its header; no actionable merge-blocking issue remains.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 07692

The inspected changes preserve existing app identity, tool controls, and thread-action ownership. No introduced security weakness was established. Server-side authorization and device-level interaction behavior remain unverified.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The inspected exposure remains the existing mobile deep-link route and its selected environment, thread, and stored app item, plus existing thread-arrangement actions. The presentation changes do not establish new cross-environment reachability or increased tool authority; backend authorization limits remain unverified.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — Attacker-controlled route identifiers still cross into the environment query boundary under the existing client-side identity checks. The app host retains its sandbox and authenticated bridge envelope. Its broad origin whitelist and Android navigation behavior are also unchanged; hostile-navigation runtime behavior and server ownership enforcement were not established.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — ThreadArrangementSheet retains its scoped identity and permission checks, busy and pending-order guards, drag cancellation, and cleanup ownership. Its existing sequential writes can partially succeed before a later failure; pending-order confirmation and cancellation remain unchanged. The PR does not introduce this behavior, and server atomicity or idempotency was not verified.

Could you link the maintainer request for this audit and confirm that it covers replacing the Android headers in the comment, arrangement, and fullscreen app screens? The Keyboard screenshots show the missing rounded boundary, but those header replacements and the global border default go beyond that example. The scope rule needs that direction established before review handoff.
