ApprovabilityVerdict: Needs Human Approval Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — This adds a substantial cross-environment linking workflow, including credential-backed remote access, Link/Forget actions, access-level selection, and authorization changes across web, mobile, and shared runtime code. It also touches sensitive authentication and permission paths, so the scope and side effects require human review. No code changes detected at You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Clicking Cancel closes the dialog without clearing the address, pairing code, or selected access, so reopening the still-mounted form retains those values, including any higher-privilege access choice. The Cancel handler only calls setOpen(false) and bypasses the reset in onOpenChange; reset the fields when Cancel is clicked too.

Settings → Connections gains a Linked environments section, shown when the server supports peer links and the session may manage access: each link with whether it answers, its access, and a warning in its last five days, plus a Link dialog (address, pairing code, access) and Forget. Mobile lists a connected environment's links under Connections. A thread a linked environment started shows "From <label>" next to its title on web, and in the thread subtitle on mobile. Part of cross-environment orchestration. #16655 added peer links on the server and the
peerLinks.*RPCs. This PR adds them to the clients.Web: Settings → Connections → Linked environments
peerLinksand the session holdsaccess:write, the same gate as authorized clients. It is searchable as "Linked environments".ConnectAgentSurface.Mobile. Connections lists each connected environment's links with their status, when the session may read access. Linking from a phone is left to desktop or
t3 environment link, since phones usually don't hold administrative access."From ". A thread that a linked environment started (#16695's
linkOrigin) shows an info badge beside its title on web, with a tooltip about what it may change. On mobile it is appended to the thread subtitle.linkOriginis mapped into the client-runtime thread model.Shared code.
client-runtime/state/peerLinks.tsholds the list query, plus link and unlink commands that refresh it. It also holdspeerLinkHealth, the status derivation that web and mobile both use.Docs.
docs/user/remote-access.mdgains "Link another environment".Verification
client-runtime/src/state/peerLinks.test.tscoverspeerLinkHealth:components/settingsandChatHeader(52 files, 548 tests), all of client-runtimestate(50 files, 700 tests), and mobilefeatures/connection(3 files, 17 tests). All passed. Web, mobile and client-runtime typecheck clean, and lint reports nothing on the changed lines.Screenshots
The tailnet address in the after shot is replaced with a placeholder.

peerLinks.linkandunlinkare client-guarded (access:write); Link and Forget follow their permission atoms.<machine>placeholder no longer renders as an HTML tag.Opus 5.5 via Claude Code.
