Add an opt-in environment setting to continue confirmed network-interrupted Codex work in the same conversation after its provider connection recovers. Keep client reconnects, provider retries, and restart continuation independent. Guard recovery admission against newer work and user cancellation, stop provider-native continuations when cancelled, and preserve pending approvals. Show interruption-only notices across web, desktop, and mobile.
Use the canonical ChatGPT URL returned by the live Codex configuration reader without treating it as a custom route. Preserve rejection of custom endpoint paths and proxies. Clear the previous connection error when recovery is admitted and let the compact notice own interruption feedback without hiding user-action errors. Verify default configuration and reservation restoration.
ApprovabilityVerdict: Not approved Macroscope's review found this PR not approvable — This PR adds a substantial cross-cutting recovery workflow spanning provider integration, orchestration state, durable events, cancellation, settlement, and web/mobile UI. It also introduces a new product setting with an explicit default, so the runtime and default-behavior changes merit human review. You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Learn more. |

Persist terminal connection failure and recovery evidence atomically so automatic settlement cannot hide opted-in work before recovery starts. Use durable ordered receipts to release the guard when recovery finishes. Fence admission against events on the same thread and route cancellation outside the shared subscriber and provider worker. Keep same-thread FIFO while other threads continue. Bound the complete connectivity probe and cover the reported races with integration regressions.

Addressed the four inline findings in bbd889b. The affected validation run passed 982 tests across 21 suites; server, contracts, and client-runtime typechecks passed. Final GPT-6 Astra xhigh AutoReview of the correction reported no actionable P0/P1 findings. @coderabbitai I also checked the inferred startup reservation concern. The docstring-coverage percentage is a nonblocking heuristic rather than a repository requirement. The code comments document the recovery ownership, ordering, and cancellation constraints; adding comments that repeat each function body would conflict with the repository's guidance to keep documentation meaningful. No coverage threshold or repository setting was changed. The storage-cleanup tests initially failed through macOS's symlinked temporary-directory path. The published baseline failed the same 37 cases, and the baseline and corrected source both pass with the canonical temporary path. The cleanup safeguards were preserved. |

@macroscopeapp Please re-review the latest commit, bbd889b, and refresh the approvability result. The reported automatic-settlement race is fixed with atomic failure/recovery evidence and a durable same-turn settlement guard. The original conversation is resolved with the reproduction and passing regression details. The current approvability comment still refers to the previous commit's unresolved finding. The feature remains off by default. |

I accept the docstring-coverage percentage as a nonblocking heuristic. I have not independently reproduced the reported test results or the macOS temporary-directory comparison. ✏️ Learnings added

Thanks for working on this. We merged the orchestrator V2 rewrite in #2829, and we are closing this PR as part of that transition. This change touches OrchestrationEngine.ts, ProjectionPipeline.ts, ProviderCommandReactor.ts, which the V2 merge removed. Codex execution now uses CodexAdapterV2 and the generated app-server integration. Sorry for the extra work this creates. If the change is still needed on V2, please rebuild it on current main, verify it there, and open a new PR linking back here. We're closing the current implementation without assuming the underlying request is resolved. |
Closes #13740
What Changed
Add an environment-scoped Resume after connection loss setting, off by default and independent of restart continuation. After a confirmed terminal connection failure, the server waits for provider connectivity and continues in the same conversation with no replayed user prompt. Client reconnects only catch up with existing work.
Initial automatic recovery supports native Codex with its built-in OpenAI connection. Settings disclose this scope; custom endpoints, proxies, and other providers retain their existing behavior. Authentication, quota, and unrelated errors do not trigger recovery.
Atomic failure/recovery receipts prevent automatic settlement from hiding pending recovery. Admission is fenced against changes on its own thread, and per-thread cancellation leaves other conversations responsive. The complete connectivity probe is bounded to five seconds. Guarded admission and provider-native cancellation prevent duplicate continuation and preserve Stop, newer work, disabled settings, and approvals. Failed native cleanup keeps later work blocked until cleanup succeeds. A resumed task's approval or question stays pending for the user.
Why
A temporary connection failure can end a provider turn. Restoring the client connection alone does not continue it. This opt-in feature resumes eligible work while leaving running or completed tasks alone.
UI Changes
The toggle sits beside restart continuation in General settings and mobile Maintenance settings. Healthy chat has no new status controls. A compact waiting notice includes Stop; confirmed progress produces a five-second Task resumed notice.
The following 25-second recording uses the real T3 server and web client with a deterministic provider fixture. It demonstrates a simulated provider connection interruption, one promptless continuation in the same conversation, and notice expiry. It is not a physical Wi-Fi or live-model outage test.

Checklist
This is one feature, but the cross-client implementation and cancellation regression coverage make the diff larger than the preferred small-PR size.
Implemented with GPT-6 in Codex, with subagents. Final independent review: GPT-6 Astra at xhigh through OpenClaw AutoReview.
