Current mode clarification

(Im not nearly a designer, barely a programmer, so sorry if this doesnt make sense)

For these two buttons its a little un-clear, do you press the button to activate this mode, or is this the current active mode. (maybe do like the other selectors with a dropdown and a checkmark on the active mode).
Also an "ask" mode, where you know the agent wont edit code would be nice (like cursor) to help understand large codebases.
