Linux context menus and dialogs should use a custom design #333
Hi. Currently context menus in Linux look like this:
And dialogs:
This is the default Chromium context menu and GTK dialogs, and suffice to say, they look out of place. Since Linux has no standard context menu or dialog design, the app should use a custom context menu matching the app's design.
Apps like VS Code, Obsidian, and more do this already. It signals polish and high-quality, and allows menus and dialogs to be more compact than the default Chromium monstrosity that Electron uses by default. This may be configurable for people who prefer the existing behavior.
T3 Code now uses its own application context menus, while filesystem dialogs intentionally remain native OS dialogs. We are not going to replace native Linux dialogs wholesale with a custom implementation.
This was closed as part of a large repo-wide maintenance sweep. If you think it's still relevant, please reopen.
