I would like to update the shortcut used for the Settings action in the header. Right now the current shortcut is not very intuitive, and using s would be a better option for discoverability and consistency.

It should be possible to trigger the same action with a clearer shortcut without affecting the existing behavior of the page.

So it wasn't clear to me either why , (comma) was picked as a keyboard shortcut for settings. But after asking on discord it was suggested that it's to match ⌘ + , which is a common shortcut on MacOS to open application's settings.

With that being said I think we'd need a stronger argument why switch to s now.

Need someone from the core team to chime in on this matter.

Since , aligns with the macOS convention (⌘ + ,), it makes sense to keep it for consistency across platforms.

I think we look into improving discoverability (e.g., showing the shortcut in the UI/tooltip) so users can find it more easily.

Even though "S" might make more sense next to the Compare using "C", the comma for Settings is a well-established pattern (Slack, VS Code, Discord, all browsers, etc.), so users will likely try it automatically. It's probably the most discoverable option for heavy keyboard users.

I agree with @MatteoGabriele. Although , might be a bit unfamiliar to some users, the ? shortcut and the "keyboard shortcut" link should provide enough of a hint for them to discover it.

I think another benefit to keep , is to reserve s for a future feature that might be used more frequently than the settings page.
