paths for existing asset sources and the output directory, so a source reached
through an external symlink into the output is rejected before cleanup. Add a

…ublic-assets-overlap-4679 # Conflicts: # src/build/prepare.ts
The Vite plugin registers its build.outDir as a public asset dir. When that dir sits inside a cleaned output dir, the overlap check rejected every build after the first one.
commit: |
A symlink inside the output dir that points outside it would be removed by cleanup, leaving the configured source missing.

Resolves #4679
❓ Type of change
📚 Description
prepare()deletes the output dirs (output.dir,output.publicDir,output.serverDir) before public assets are copied. If apublicAssetsdir is inside one of them (for exampledist/clientwithnetlifyorcloudflare-pages, which publish fromdist/), it was deleted and the build still reported success.prepare()now checks every existingpublicAssetsdir before deleting anything. If one is inside a dir that is about to be cleaned, the build fails with an error that names both paths, and nothing is deleted.dist/that points into it is also caught.prepare()takes a new optionalgeneratedAssetDirsoption for asset dirs that the build regenerates. The Vite plugin passes its ownbuild.outDirhere. Without this, a Vite app withbuild.outDir: "dist"onnetlifyorcloudflare-pageswould fail on every build after the first.🧪 Tests
test/unit/prepare.test.ts: a nested source dir, a symlinked source dir, nothing deleted when the check fails, dirs that don't exist yet, and generated dirs.test/vite/rebuild.test.ts: builds a Vite app withbuild.outDirinside the output dir twice. It fails without the Vite plugin change.📝 Checklist
