Open-source software for the Ummah, built with Ihsan.
MuslimOSS is a non-profit, community-governed open-source organization building software, libraries, APIs, and datasets that serve Muslims — and the mosques, schools, families, and developers around them. Our work is guided by the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah according to mainstream Sunni scholarship. We are not a religious authority: where a project requires a religious ruling, we work with qualified scholars rather than deciding internally.
We hold engineering to the same bar as any world-class open-source foundation — versioned releases, tested code, honest documentation, and secure defaults — because Ihsan applies to how software is built, not just what it's built for.

Flagship repositories will be listed here as they reach a stable release. We'd rather this section be short and accurate than long and aspirational.
- Contribute code or docs — see
CONTRIBUTING.mdfor setup, coding standards, and the PR process. - Report a bug or request a feature — open an issue on the relevant repository.
- Ask a question or propose an idea — use Discussions rather than opening an issue.
- Report a security issue — do not open a public issue. See
SECURITY.md.
Participation is open to everyone, regardless of background or belief. Respect for the project's Islamic identity and our Code of Conduct is expected of all contributors.
MuslimOSS is community-governed, not company-owned. Decision-making structure, maintainer roles, and our relationship with scholarly advisors are documented in GOVERNANCE.md.
Unless a repository states otherwise, MuslimOSS projects are released under the MIT License. Datasets and religious-text repositories may carry additional attribution or accuracy-review requirements — check each repository's LICENSE and README.md.
