SEP: Host Backed Navigation #147

Open

Description

@khandrew1

Thoughts on introduce host-backed navigation to the so that in-iframe routing (e.g., React Router) stays in sync with the host’s navigation controls and history? This enables intuitive forward/back behavior. For example, the ChatGPT Apps SDK mirrors the iframe’s history into ChatGPT.

    @khandrew1 is this happening in fullscreen mode?

    @ochafik Display mode shouldn't matter. In ChatGPT the browser's native buttons handle navigation in the iframe.

    For example if you navigated to a checkout page in the widget, you can click the browser's back button to navigate back to the shop page.

    OpenAI's Apps SDK plugs into the browser's navigation APIs: https://developers.openai.com/apps-sdk/build/chatgpt-ui/ (section Use host-backed navigation)
