Fatal Python error: PyThreadState_Get: no current thread for darknet_import.py

hi,
This is my first to do ell. Everything is perfect before I tried to compile the model with the following
python ~/projects/ELL-master/tools/importers/darknet/darknet_import.py ~/projects/ELL-master/networks/testELLGongjin/robotsGardenCressDoubleFC.cfg ~/projects/ELL-master/networks/testELLGongjin/robotsGardenCressDoubleFC.weights Fatal Python error: PyThreadState_Get: no current thread Abort trap: 6

I met the above error. And then, I skip the above error (step) by copy a model.ell from my colleague and compiled the model.ell with :
python ~/projects/ELL-master/tools/wrap/wrap.py model.ell --language cpp --target host --outdir model compiling model... running opt ... running llc ... success, now you can build the 'model' folder

It does work. But it does not work for the former error.

Note:

• I run 'which python' to see:
  (py36) lan@Gongjins-MacBook-Pro:~/projects/ELL-master/networks/testELLGongjin$ which python /Users/lan/miniconda3/envs/py36/bin/python
• my computer is macOS High Sierra (10.13.4)

what is the problem? and how can I fix this problem?

Your problem seems to be similar to facebookarchive/caffe2#854, which seems to be a system configuration issue around python specifically.

Not really, it is more similar to this one https://github.com/Microsoft/ELL/issues/130, but still not same. Is anybody have some ideas? Thanks!

Can you run this and include the output you see?

python -c 'import sys; print(sys.version)'

If this says python 2.7, then you may need to be using "python3" instead of "python" in all your ELL commands.

If so this really seems like this issue: facebookarchive/caffe2#854

I just tested the darknet import tutorial on Windows and everything runs fine, including compiling the model and testing it like this:

And since we are just using python we rarely see cross-platform issues like this caused by ELL itself. So it must be something else. Unfortunately I do not have a macOS machine handy to test it there... So anything you can provide to help narrow down the source of this bug would be helpful, for example, an exact stack trace would be nice.

And you are right, it is similar to facebookarchive/caffe2#854
But I am using python 3.6.6 and MSVC 16.7.0 on windows 10 (not Mac OS) so I cannot compile python with the --enable-framework (--enable-shared) flag.
I am happy that a similar issue in windows is resolved.

Oh you are on windows, but get the same error as reported by langongjin. Interesting. Can you provide the exact python command line you are running ? Also when you ran the ELL build, I assume the "python" part of the build was enabled? You should see something like this in the cmake command line output:
