Not every button press is actioned #80

Open

Description

@Lorrainbow

this is related to #44

As well as the cursor not always moving to the next tile, at times when you select Enter (on both the forward education shield and the elecfreaks shield) nothing happens.

It is a frustrating experience for the user.

    Don't know what you mean by "Not every button press is actioned". you mean it doesn't respond to button press?

    maybe a change to display-driver to poll buttons in interrupt context of CODAL?

    system_timer_event_every_us(10000, DEVICE_ID_PULSE_IN, DEVICE_EVT_PULSE_IN_TIMEOUT)
    uBit.messageBus. listen(uint16_t EVENT_ID, uint16_t EVENT_CODE, (void *)callback_function, MESSAGE_BUS_LISTENER_IMMEDIATE);

    Nope. its already doing that: https://github.com/microbit-apps/display-shield/blob/e1d529218e0059d93ed34b7d284c2929742b17dc/cpp/jddisplay.cpp#L95

    we are losing them elsewhere

    Oh, but sendIndexedImage is doing double duty getting button presses at user-mode: https://github.com/microbit-apps/display-shield/blob/e1d529218e0059d93ed34b7d284c2929742b17dc/cpp/jddisplay.cpp#L326

    addressed by not running program while editing; explicit run/stop buttons provided.
