When the build's target is not the machine, deps-cmake configures the subproject with the compilers, words and archiver of the engine's contract for the configuration (${mcpp.contract}, mcpp 2026.10.30.1+), read when the action runs, under Ninja; CMAKE_SYSTEM_NAME is the target's system and the try-compile builds a static library. The package needs mcpp 2026.10.30.1 ([package] mcpp).

Fixture tests/cmake-cross: --target x86_64-linux-musl on a glibc runner; the subproject must be compiled against musl.

Design: mcpp-community/mcpp design 2026-10-29 §8.2. CI runs against mcpp's release/2026.10.30.1 until that release is published.
