Also I just downloaded files from master branch I am not able to reproduce your issue:

Can you execute the plugin scripts normally? It looks like linuxdeploy can't execute one of the plugins (most likely ncurses) to query the plugin API version.
You are right, the file linuxdeploy-plugin-gtk.sh is a html file, so linuxdeploy faild, then I update it again, then found the gtk plugin, but failed again.

The libgio-2.0.so* not yet include while deploying Gtk libraries, and its plugin modules too:
Otherwise, the libgda plugin modules have the same problem, better if provide a way to do it.

Can you try with a previous version?
Like this one: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/linuxdeploy/linuxdeploy-plugin-gtk/da2d3763def3d3c3d7bd7ad11b9a5edf2b3a5958/linuxdeploy-plugin-gtk.sh

Work fine on Ubuntu and Failed on Fedora 32 distribution, output:
can't make directory: <AppImage>/usr/lib64/gdk-pixbuf-2.0, permission denied.then create it manually, output again:
The directory system is different on a different distribution, it's the hell of the future of Linux, I hate it.

@taozuhong your issue is a bit weird, because I don't see regression on CI: https://github.com/linuxdeploy/linuxdeploy-plugin-gtk/runs/2313860872
