<Leader>W and <Leader>w( not working

I'm trying to wrap my forms with curly braces using W and w(, but currently this is not working. My leader is set to . and pressing \ and w seems to be simply moving the cursor forward by a token. How to fix this?

Sorry, I'm a little bit confused. You say that you have your leader set to . then why are you pressing \ and w, why not . and w?
How did you set the leader? Is it set via let g:paredit_leader="."? Or do I misunderstand something?
