EEK (ESP32 by Example Kit) hardware can be used to control software running on the StackChan platform. In addition, the StackChan controller firmware can be modified to fly the Tello Drone simulator running on the StackChan and can control a real Tello Drone as well.
The EEK is available from Elektor: EEK
The StackChan is available from M5Stack: StackChan
The stock firmware for the StackChan, which is based on the M5CoreS3 that includes a ESP32-S3 SoC, provides access to AI-Chatbot behaviors that the EEK is not able to interface with and use. However, there are servo motor motions that the EEK can control as well as taking pictures and showing video using the StackChan camera. The StackChan is powered by a built-in battery.
One version of the StackChan includes a StackChan controller device based on the M5StickCPlus hardware with a mini Joystick Hat pictured below. This device also includes a built-in rechargeable battery.
Code in this repository includes four folders: one for the EEK Hardware as a controller, one for the StackChan controller, one for the StackChan itself and one for the CYD (Cheap Yellow Display) that is the precursor to the StackChan for Drone Simulation. Each of the controller folders has two Arduino projects that allows each controller to control the StackChan.
The StackChan device folder itself has two projects that allow it to either function as a Drone Simulator or as a limited feature version of the StackChan where its servo motors and camera can be operated wirelessly from each controller. In addition, the battery level on the StackChan is monitored, displayed on the StackChan screen and reported to the controllers when they are connected to it.
The CheapYellowDisplay folder has a single project implementing a Drone Simulator. Both Drone Controller projects can control the CYD Simulator as long as the SSID selected within the controller matches that of the CYD.
