Hi @jamesstringerparsec, if you have some time, please take a look at this PR. The Windows 11 users (mostly my friends with similar setup) are frustrated without this change. |
Mount-VHD/Get-Volume picks up every lettered partition (EFI, Windows, Recovery), so $DriveLetter became a multi-value array that stringified into garbage like "G F E" and broke every path built from it. Filter to NTFS volumes and take the largest one, which is the Windows partition. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
… VMs Get-VHD -VMId returns every disk attached to the VM, and Mount-VHD/ Dismount-VHD accept that whole array, so a VM with extra data disks (e.g. a Steam library VHDX) had all of them mounted together. The previous "largest NTFS volume" heuristic then picked whichever data disk happened to be biggest instead of the actual Windows volume, silently copying the driver files onto the wrong disk while leaving the real OS volume untouched. Now each attached VHD is mounted individually and identified by the presence of \Windows\System32\ntoskrnl.exe, so only the true OS volume is used, and every other disk is dismounted immediately without being touched. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
