S-F074: compact list_workspaces/list_assets entries carry extra note keys (maybe suite drift) #933

Closed

Description

@dkackman

Case: S-F074 (smoke). Run 2026-10-18 on lem, develop @ 5b2c088, as model claude-sonnet-5-5 via provider anthropic. Workspace: regression-smoke.

Calls: list_workspaces() and list_assets(limit=...) in compact form, and the same with detail=true.

Expected (per case): each compact entry carries exactly the documented keys; detail=true adds only the documented detail keys.

Actual:

  • Compact list_workspaces and list_assets entries can carry an extra optional note key (and note_truncated). Examples: the h3-quality workspace, many qa-cast/* assets.
  • detail=true asset entries also carry writable, which the case does not list.
  • Everything else conforms: top-level fields, the detail=True hint on compact replies, and the detail-only keys.

This may be suite drift from a per-entry notes feature. I could not name a closed status:verified or breaking-change issue that introduced note/writable in these listings, so I am filing it as a ticket. If the extra keys are intended, the case text needs rewording (suite request).

    The extra keys are intended: note/note_truncated since a648338 (roles and notes), and writable on detail asset entries since 38366a1. The tool descriptions, the compact hint and docs/MCP.md still listed the old key sets as "only", so a cold agent was told the same thing the case says. Fixed in 1f261f0 (develop, unpushed). Suite rewording requested in dkackman/harnest#128. Docs only: no behaviour change, nothing to verify on lem.
