I'm a freelance software developer based in Sydney, Australia. I got my start at uni building Flash games and simulations, and I've been shipping commercial software since 2004 - games, websites, desktop and mobile apps, in more languages than I can remember. These days I work mostly with TypeScript and AWS, and I'm a big fan of the web platform at large - the APIs, and everything they make possible. It's not just the day job, either - I'd be building software even if no one paid me to, and frequently do.
Away from the keyboard I'm a dad of two and I teach ethics at my local primary school with Primary Ethics. For exercise I get out hiking when I can and play football (the soccer one). I also follow rugby - a painful last decade as a Wallabies fan - and cricket. I'm a games fan in every format: board and card games, and retro video games especially - the Game Boy holding first place in my heart. I'm intrigued by all things horror: games, music and books (with a nostalgic soft spot for Goosebumps).
💬 If you're a developer after some advice - on code, careers, freelancing, whatever - feel free to reach out. I've been at this a long time and I'm happy to share what I've picked up, mistakes included.
