Adds evidence-sharing/checkout/, an example of recording a browser session as evidence with Currents and sharing it as a link that opens without a login.

The example is a one-page checkout with a bug no test covers: a discount code typed in lowercase (save10) throws in the submit handler, so the Apply button stays on "Applying…" and the total never changes. The first commit adds the page with the bug; the second fixes it. The before and after sessions are in the comments below.

  • capture.mjs drives the page with Playwright and saves a trace, a video, a screenshot and the accessibility tree. An agent with the Playwright MCP server captures the same files.
  • The README shows both ways to record a session: the currents session CLI, and the Currents MCP server tools for agents without the CLI.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added a sample checkout experience with discount codes and a checkout total.
    • Added a walkthrough for capturing browser-session evidence and sharing links without a Currents login, including a before-and-after checkout example.
  • Documentation

    • Added steps for recording and sharing evidence using the Currents CLI or MCP, with guidance on linking sessions to a pull request and adding files to an existing session.

The discount form throws when the code is typed in lowercase, so the
Apply button stays on "Applying…". The next commit fixes it; the PR
carries the before and after sessions.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The change adds a checkout example with discount-code handling, a Playwright script that captures browser evidence, and instructions for sharing captured sessions through the Currents CLI or MCP server.

Changes

Evidence Sharing

Layer / File(s) Summary
Checkout demo
evidence-sharing/checkout/index.html, evidence-sharing/checkout/app.js, evidence-sharing/checkout/styles.css
The page displays a three-item cart and checkout summary. The form applies valid discounts and reports invalid codes. The stylesheet defines the checkout layout and controls.
Browser evidence capture
evidence-sharing/checkout/capture.mjs, evidence-sharing/checkout/package.json, evidence-sharing/checkout/.gitignore
The script opens the checkout in Chromium, applies save10, and saves a screenshot, accessibility snapshot, trace, and video. Package scripts and ignore rules support the example.
Session sharing instructions
evidence-sharing/checkout/README.md, README.md
The documentation describes CLI and MCP steps for creating sessions, attaching evidence, and sharing links. The main README links to the checkout example.

Change: Other

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to e5589

The checkout example ships with the discount fix already applied, so following the README cannot reproduce the "before" bug it is meant to demonstrate. Provide the buggy revision, or a way to serve it, before merging. Two smaller follow-ups remain. The capture script should reject unsafe names before deleting its output directory. The page should stack its columns on narrow screens.

The submit handler looked the code up as typed, so "save10" found no
entry and the destructuring threw before the button was re-enabled.

Evidence: lowercase discount code, before and after

Recorded by Claude (AI agent) with Currents. The links open without a Currents login and work until Oct 14.

What changed for the customer: typing save10 in lowercase used to freeze checkout: the Apply button stayed on "Applying…" and the total never changed. With the fix, the code applies 10% off and the total drops from $229.50 to $206.55.

Before (b7160e3) After (e5589b1)
before after
Session page · trace digest Session page · trace digest
Recorded with the currents session CLI Recorded through the Currents MCP server

Accessibility tree, before → after

     - textbox "Discount code":
       - text: save10
- - button "Applying…" [disabled]
- - status
+ - button "Apply"
+ - status: "SAVE10 applied: 10% off"
     - term: Subtotal
     - definition: $229.50
     - term: Discount
- - definition: —
+ - definition: −$22.95
     - term: Total
- - definition: $229.50
+ - definition: $206.55

Cause: the submit handler looked the code up as typed. DISCOUNT_CODES["save10"] is undefined, so destructuring percent threw a TypeError at app.js:39 before the button was re-enabled. The fix upper-cases the code and shows a message for a code that does not exist.

Restrict the capture name before deleting the output directory.

name is local command-line input, not an untrusted application value. However, .. or an absolute path makes path.resolve("evidence", name) point outside evidence/, and rm then recursively deletes that path. Reject names that are not single safe directory names before calling rm. This is a minor local-script footgun, not a critical security or data-integrity issue.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Use shell-safe placeholders in the commands.

export CURRENTS_API_KEY=<api key> is not a valid copyable assignment. The <project id> placeholders in both session start commands have the same problem. Use quoted example values or define shell variables before the commands.

Provide a reproducible before state.

The supplied app.js already accepts save10, and node capture.mjs before opens that same page. The “before” command therefore records the fix, not the described frozen Apply button. Provide the buggy revision or a way to serve it, then state when to switch to the fixed revision.

Add a narrow-screen layout.

At a 375px viewport, the 360px summary column, 32px gap, and 64px horizontal padding cannot fit. The checkout extends beyond the screen. Switch to one column at narrow widths and allow the discount input to shrink.
