Feature: Add TUXEDO laptop fan sensor support via tccd D-Bus #549
I have searched the existing issues, it does not exist.
Describe the new feature
TUXEDO laptops (using the tuxedo-io kernel module) do not expose fan sensors through standard hwmon sysfs. This means Vitals shows "No Data" for the fan section on TUXEDO laptops, even though TUXEDO Control Center (tccd) can access fan data.
I have implemented a proof-of-concept that queries fan speed data from the tccd daemon via D-Bus (GetFanDataJSON method on com.tuxedocomputers.tccd).
Implementation details
Detect tccd D-Bus availability at startup (dbusAvailable method)
When no hwmon fan sensors are found AND tccd is available, query fan data via D-Bus
Report fan speed as percentage for CPU, GPU1, GPU2
Filter out -1 speed values (unavailable sensors)
Uses synchronous D-Bus call to ensure data is available before display
Current limitation
On my TUXEDO laptop with TCC 3.0.3, GetFanDataJSON returns speed values of -1 for all fans (temperature data is available). This appears to be a TCC limitation where the tuxedo-io WMI interface doesn't expose direct fan speed readings on this hardware. The infrastructure is in place and will work when TCC provides valid speed data.
I'd be happy to submit a PR for this feature. Would the maintainers be interested?
