Consult: Codex still reviewing git diff instead of reading files directly #280
During builder 0113's plan consultation, Codex reviewed only the git diff against main instead of reading the actual source files. This caused a false positive — Codex flagged missing code changes that were actually present but uncommitted.
From the builder's log:
"Codex's concern is a false positive — it only saw git diff against main (committed docs) and missed the uncommitted code changes."
Expected Behavior
Consultation agents should read files directly from the worktree, not rely on git diffs. Diffs are lossy, get truncated, and miss uncommitted changes.
Context
This was supposed to be fixed previously — memory notes say "NEVER pass diffs to consult. Run consult general from within the repo directory so models can read files themselves."
The issue may be in how porch constructs the consultation commands for builders working in worktrees. The consult invocation may still be passing diffs rather than letting the model read the worktree directly.
Impact
False positive reviews waste builder iterations. In this case, the builder had to write a rebuttal for a non-issue, adding an extra iteration to the plan phase.
