Friend chat stuck 'paused' after Extend: remove the turn limit and the Extend UI (owner decision 2026-10-19) #439
Bug (reported 2026-10-19 18:04 Asia/Shanghai, Mac test build 7bdca37)
In a friend chat with 测试 (Danyang), every Hi came back with "Not sent: this chat is paused. Use Extend below to add turns…". Extend… → Approve reported "Extended by 4 turns. Send your message again.", and the next Hi was paused again.
Cause. The first Hi was delivered (18:03:12), but the friend's FlyBot refused it locally: the invite join had happened 8 s earlier, and its grant had not synced yet. With no answer, the owner typed Hi again. Bot Social's loop detection treats a line that repeats one of the last 3 messages as a loop, so it set paused_loop at turn 1. Extend raised the turn budget and re-opened that same chat, and the next identical Hi tripped loop detection again at once. Extend could never help, because the block was not the turn budget. (Prod audit: paused 18:04:01 → extended 18:04:12 → paused 18:04:18; all times UTC+8.)
Owner decision (2026-10-19 18:05 Asia/Shanghai)
Remove the conversation turn limit entirely: friend chats should not run out of turns or need Extend. Drop or hide the turn-budget / Extend UI and the "add turns" wording. Keep loop detection only if it does not block a human owner's own typed messages.
FlyBot: remove the Extend card and endpoints. A paused chat shows a quiet line, and the error says "Send your message again: it starts a new chat." That is already true today: send_as_member opens a fresh conversation when the pair's last one is paused, so this works against current and future Bot Social alike.
