The St2 host used for the upgrade process has been updated from St2 v3.3 running on Ubuntu Xenial 16.04 to St2 v3.8.1 running on Ubuntu Focal 20.04.
There may be workflow failures or pack errors due to the upgrade, so they'll be fixed as the release progresses.
Marcel no longer uses StackStorm but has offered to help test St2 during the release if there are docker images available. 💓

Jacob is working on system packaging. He's confirmed wheels need to bind against LDAP c lib which are distribution specific so will investigate if wheel tagging can be used to work around this situation.

I will be migrating st2 for the first time from an existing version to the newer version, can you explain what do you mean by workflow failures or pack errors during release ? Since i have been testing my pack on 3.9dev images for nearly a month now and there were only few minor things which we already fixed but otherwise I do not see any issues so far.
Also is there like a tentative planned week where we plan to make this release and we know that the v3.9 docker images will be available to start testing ?
That comment is specifically related to the release process workflows that are used, not a general comment. It was a warning that the release process may be disrupted by unexpected technical issues compared to previous releases.
There'll be an announcement in the next week or two to let people know when the packages/images for testing are available.
