[FEATURE REQUEST] - Improve autoPause with actual visibility #51

Open

Description

@fmigneault

Feature Description

The autoPause utility employs a check of the [active] window to detect if the wallpaper should be paused. When using split screens (eg: having 2 apps sharing the entire screen), whichever one is selected/focused gets the "active" status but still won't cover the entire screen. Therefore, autoPause never does its job.

Similarly, if a window is in fullscreen and activated, and then another app (eg: taskmanager) is opened on top in windowed mode, we can see autoPause triggers the wallpaper to resume playing, although it is still invisible from the other fullscreen window.

Instead of the active window, a solution using https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/winuser/nf-winuser-iswindowvisible or similar should be considered, by checking the status of the wallpaper window itself.

Motivation

Ensure the autoPause behaviour is consistently applied with the actual visibility of the wallpaper across various screen setups.

    Good point. I hope to resume AutoWall development soon and be able to implement these improvements. I’ll leave it open, I think what you’re proposing is the correct way for the functionality.
