Backspace stopped repeating after automatic capitalization, and a swipe begun after the hold timer could not take over. Keep deletion repeating in ordinary typing, then stop the timer before selecting from the remaining caret.
This also addresses the Android design review: Emoji hold opens full Settings directly, a visible Tools button preserves tap access to Compose/accents/quick options, Settings search includes control names, and Backspace preferences move to Holds & gestures. Redraw Cut and correct Dictate contrast in both themes. Private/raw restrictions, staged preferences and stale-action guards remain covered.
Validation: 17 tooling and 40 JVM tests; lint and release build pass. Compact-layer interaction/geometry/contrast tests pass (7); Backspace, Compose, private draft and tuning checks pass. Final Settings/narrow captures and exact-candidate CI are recorded in the active plan. Physical phone and assistive-technology acceptance remain open. Alpha18 remains published pending verified alpha19 signing.
