The input and output boards (ADDA-Boards) are out of scope of this ticket. Yes, could be that there are Atmel MCUs.
I'm interested in the ADDA-Boards because I was playing with the idea of creating a "mod-board" for the X32 rack to make another 8 digital outputs available (either 1x ADAT output or 4xstereo AES/EBU on one connector). There is still a little place at the rear where the Behringer logo sits (sorry, Behringer ;-) )
You would have to modify the original output board by adding the appropriate connector, though (I already bought a couple of these ;-)....

We want to replace all of the firmware with our own implementation. This is part of that.

OK, so that would be for the surface MCU's?
Aren't these Atmel/AVR based?
The Input and Output boards definitely have AVr (some ATmega If I remember). Do you want to replace these too?

The surface boards (Faders, Buttons, Encoders) have stm32f103rbt6.
