Hi, I'm Nathan Atherton

Staff Software Engineer at Thrive Learning, based in Manchester, UK. These days I spend most of my time on agentic AI and automation: building tools where AI agents do real work, and automating the boring bits of life and software.

Currently building

Most of my 2026 work lives in private repos, but here is what is on the go:

  • steps: a social step-competition app in React Native and Supabase — Health Connect and HealthKit sync, group leaderboards, friends, walk sharing, and AI weekly recaps. Currently dogfooding a live build ahead of app store submission
  • walkloop: a walking habit app for generating and following loops from wherever I am, with live follow mode — built for a season of living in new cities
  • investment-watch: a dashboard that does daily AI-assisted research on the investments I follow
