Describe the Bug

In Audio/Video (UI) configuration, you can specify the display id to be used. I am running two displays and used to capture the correct display in the past. Changing the display id (to 1), saving the configuration and applying the changes (which will make the tray icon disappear for a short time), doesn't have any effect. Every time the wrong display (id 0) gets used.

Expected Behavior

Sunshine needs to capture the correct display as specified (by id).

Additional Context

Running on latest CachyOS with sunshine (2026.516.143833-1) installed from the CachyOS repositories. I've set the encoder to auto, VAAPI, Vulkan, with no effects regarding the bug. Can't really tell what capture mode is being used, but I'm running niri with xwayland(-satellite) support.

Seems like it's related to the capture method. I think the first method to be chosen was wlr. In the config file, I've set it to portal (which is missing btw in the docs) and now the right display is being used.

Since the log mentions wlgrab it is likely related to #5071

I experienced the same, id-based outputs didn't work anymore. According to #5071 I changed the output_name to the display's name (e.g. DP-1) which worked. I expect my setup to use wlr, but didn't confirm.

The new way is for me more intuitive, I always struggled to remember which output was which id and checking the logs was cumbersome. Since the documentation was not yet updated I wonder if this is working as designed or not.

I can confirm this for niri as wayland compositor on arch linux.

Would it be possible to add this to the help text for Display Id in the Web UI? The current text only mentions the numeric ID, and the output also corresponds to X11, but for wayland/wlr the real output looks completely different, that's what confused me in the first place.
