Containerize the app so it runs via docker compose up --build with all services accessible on 0.0.0.0.

New files

  • Dockerfile — Multi-stage build (node:18-alpine). Single container runs both Next.js and Express via concurrently. Non-root user.
  • docker-compose.yml — Ports bound to 0.0.0.0:3000 and 0.0.0.0:3001, SQLite persisted in a named volume.
  • .dockerignore

Configuration changes to support containerized runtime

  • prisma/schema.prisma — Switched from hardcoded file:./dev.db to env("DATABASE_URL") so the DB path is configurable (Docker volume at /app/data/dev.db vs local ./dev.db)
  • next.config.js — Rewrite destinations now use NEXT_PUBLIC_API_URL env var instead of hardcoded localhost:3001
  • server/index.ts — app.listen binds to HOST env (default 0.0.0.0). CORS origins configurable via CORS_ORIGINS comma-separated env var.
  • server/routes/auth.ts — OAuth callback redirect always uses FRONTEND_URL env (previously only in production mode)
  • .env.example — Documents HOST, DATABASE_URL, FRONTEND_URL, CORS_ORIGINS

Usage

cp .env.example .env # fill in Google OAuth creds
docker compose up --build
# Frontend: http://0.0.0.0:3000
# Backend: http://0.0.0.0:3001

All changes are backward-compatible — local npm run dev works as before when DATABASE_URL=file:./dev.db is set in .env.
