Found 2026-10-15 on Linux when naming a new calculation: a name with a space is not accepted. Every resource type's NameRule in data/client/config/ResourceDescriptor.xml is [A-Za-z0-9._-]+, so the prompt rejects it.
Names become directory names on the data server and in job scripts, so allowing spaces needs a check of every path that quotes them (WebDAV URLs, gensub/sh job scripts, ssh/scp transfer, the Windows client) before the rule is relaxed. Until then the rejection message should say plainly that spaces are not allowed and suggest _ or -.
Decision needed: allow spaces (larger change, needs that audit), or keep the rule and improve the message.
Confirmed on Windows and macOS with the merged test build: 'water dimer' becomes water_dimer as typed, and the prompt's buttons are fully visible on Windows. Linux check pending.
Fixed in 9.2.0 (f08cb7b): a space typed into a new or renamed name becomes '_' at once. Confirmed on Windows and macOS; the code path is the same on Linux.
