Using native client, password is limited to 255 bytes

fbclient has not this limitation.

The way the Java variant of the DPB is created for native connections means it has a limit of 255 bytes for values. I'll need to see if I can determine at that point if I can create a wide one.

Unconditionally creating a wide parameter buffer fails when connecting to Firebird 2.5 with

Invalid clumplet buffer structure: buffer end before end of clumplet - clumplet too long [SQLState:HY000, ISC error code:335544382]

I guess I need to dynamically switch to wide if confronted with a too long value.

Exactly this way works appropriate class in firebird.

Certainly - your client is pure Java :) I just wanted to say that this approach proofed itself as correct.

@AlexPeshkoff In this case the problem is actually with the native protocol, which does use fbclient :) The pure-java side of the driver works just fine with extremely long passwords.

In this case IXpbBuilder can be used - it does support auto-extension of DPB.
